Default NASA Daytona Nov 1-2, 2014. Rolex Course

Anyone coming to this, I am strongly considering it.

$550 for the weekend, damn cheap for Daytona.

I think I would poo myself coming full throttle off turn 4 into the tri-oval. $550 for a weekend is a deal.

JustTrackIt will be there that Friday (October 31st) as well. $350 for the day.

I'm running a similar oval + infield road course setup at Atlanta Motor Speedway in July and if all goes well I would consider making the trip to Daytona.

While on the subject of NASA, have any of you guys done a hyperdrive? I'm doing one this weekend to try out a brand new track in my area, figured it was worth the $50 just to get some laps in. I've done events before but NASA gives no info on their site like when to show up. I thought I had read somewhere that the hyperdrives are during the lunch breaks from racing.

From my experience, they typically do them on Saturday's around the middle of the day however it's possible there's some variance based on how the other run groups fill out. Our NASA site typically posts up the detailed event schedules online 2-3 days prior to the event.

Thanks for the heads up, I will do some more digging on the regional site. Never run with NASA before but I hear great things.

Correct, up in Northeast they usually run them during the lunch break.
I think it gets a classroom session for the basics and then an instructor to ride along with you on track.
18yrs old, drivers lic and pass a basic inspection. Helmet is needed but sometimes they have loaners.
Hyperdrives are effectively one HPDE 1 equivalent track session (20-30mins)

I paid $600 back in 2008 with the Audi club and thought it was a great deal. Not sure if I'll make this one or not but it is a track you need to drive at lest once to check it off your bucket list. The first time I pulled on to those high banks was very intimidating and gave me a whole new respect for the NASCAR drivers.

Here's some video from the 24 hr course and I've run just the infield section with the SCCA for a totally different perspective.

That may be possible for me, one of my friends is considering it, and he has a two car hauler. He's been dropping hints to me about making the trip. I'll talk to Jon Felton this weekend (Fl regional director) to try and find out if he'll let me be an instructor which will really make it more affordable for me. Sounds like a really good opportunity!

As of now I can't make this event. A little bump in the road of life, I will have to wait a year or so.

160+ with a body full of blood thinners makes ya think twice, I will have to wait till I come off them.

FFB -- sorry to hear about the health issue. I've had blood clots + blood thinner treatment path before and it wasn't fun. Hope you get back up to speed soon (pun intended)!

Any word on if they've running the bus stop at this Daytona event? We just ran a full day at Atlanta Motor Speedway (oval + road course) setup with the bus stop closed and it was the most fun I've ever had in the car. Top speeds for the high horsepower + good driver cars were 150+ mph.

I'm still on track to go to this, I'll be instructing and running TTU. I need to get my car put back together, currently both the motor and Trans are out! 40K mile LS6 shortblock going back in and a Nascar Dog ring transmission! I'm sure I'll break the rearend this time! Hope not... I'm not sure if everyone is staying at the track or at one of the sponsor hotels? I need to make plans.
