Confirmed: SLP Firehawk G8 - Discuss
Known Info:

I cannot get into performance questions/answers quite yet, but lets just say the performance on our Supercharged model is more than impressive, 50 state legal and fully warranted.
The reaction was overwhelming with the exception of a few snide remarks from past F-Body Firehawk owners who obviously think we should have let the name die.
*Please note the circled "R" next to the Firehawk logo - The Firehawk logo/script is a registered Trademark of SLP.

I will comment more tomorrow, but for now the actual Teaser brochure that I gave away at the CamaroZ28.com banquet and at the track:

Otherwise, I like the idea of putting blowers on rear wheel drive V8 cars.

While I like the G8 GT/GXP, I don't like the idea of using the Firehawk name on anything that isn't deserving. A 4 door V6 G8 Firehawk? Terrible, absolutely terrible... Way to diminish an icon...

Dave:
I hope you use this thread to keep us updated on the progress.
I will. Folks, please understand that our scheduled unveil was going to be at SEMA in November. The folks at GM asked us to do it at the GM event at Indianapolis this past weekend and we obliged.
We are not yet ready to announce details, but I will post updates as I can. I will also have a micro-site set up at slponline.com in the next week or so that you can sign up for updates.
Regards,
David
The name wouldn't ever die as you stated, there are (were?) 1000s of Firehawk enthusiasts and fans that will not forget what it is. There are 1000s more Firehawk fans that don't even own Firehawks, bet they will not like this news either.
As for the target consumer, I think you are not considering something here. Those of us that bought new Firehawk Firebirds are now 10-15 yrs older, and we ARE the target consumer now for the G8. I may buy a GXP for my wife. I'm not happy to see "Firehawk" on the door of a 4-door sedan though. The car itself might kick serious ***, but you have now diluted something that many of us considered special.

Some market research from the largest LS-engine community would have been nice before this was announced.

Tony, you know I love this place, but it is well known in the Aftermarket Automotive community that is not the place to do R&D on new vehicles/new vehicle items.
We used a more traditional means including a few past Firehawk owners that had no issues with the name being used as well other methods that we have used for the past 18 years of building niche vehicles.

May have to do a petition so our voices can be heard..
