Good job!
Your times are almost exactly what I went a week ago. The DA was from 200' to 400' all day, but I was spinning badly. I had lowered the rear, narrowed rear end and mini tubs. Finally got it hooking last pass this weekend with a 1.312 60', but the DA was up to 2000' this time, so it only went a couple 9.96s at 134 mph. Also went a 10.03 & 10.04 before it finally hooked. Had to go back to bias tires, with the radials it wouldn't touch the ground.

Congrats man, I'll change you user title.

Maybe steele changed something with the top end clocks. I always ran 2-3 more mph there in the 1/4 then most other 1/4 mile tracks around last couple years, 1/8mph was always about right though..

thanks guys. car has a single stage dry kit. jetted on 200hp. the kit was originally an nos off of a mustang. it comes with the built in fuel psi. reg. i swapped the first solenoid for a cheater and removed the 2nd and replaced it with a fml/fml connector i got at homedepot. the nozzle would only flow 150hp so, i drilled it out. with n2o on it holds 55-60psi going down the track.

car is low budget. the dry kit is what i had. the car still has the factory heads with stock valves(1.94x1.50). they are ported by a friend but have never been flowed. cam is a 230/236 113 lsa comp xfi. factory intake and fuel rails. i ported the intake myself but didnt really seem to pick up much. 1.6 roller tip rockers.

Nice work around. BTW Guys LT1 dry kits do not work like LSx dry kits We bump fuel pressure to get more fuel

Always good to see the LTx cars going again!

Hey Ed are you saying the radials were to much tire or not enough?

The car wouldn't hook on radials. They need really good track prep. They are faster at a track like HRP, No Problem, etc. Last summer it was real spotty here, hook one run, just blow them off the next. They do not "recover", meaning they pretty much dead hook, or it spins all the way through low gear. The 3.06 1st gear ratios in these 4L60Es make them harder to hook also. The bias tires always work, just are not as fast when the track is tacky enough for the radials. The radials make the car react much faster also, I have to use bias tires to run et brackets. Can't BUY a green light on radials, if they are hooking. Can't seem to teach my wrinkled old head how long (consistently) to stare at the last amber before leaving on the radials. Btw, stick cars can't use them due to the fact they have to turn them over a few times on launch to run quickest. Turn the radials over a few times and your dead. Even Mike's Pro Stocker with (1400+ fwhp) has to rotate the tires a few times when he drops the clutch to run it's quickest.

the car has never been on a dyno so, i have no ideal what hp it has. thanks for the props again guys. UPDATE: ran at an 8th mile track last night(crossville, tn) and had a new 8th mile best of 6.28@112.8 with a 1.45 60ft. the car hooked and then unloaded the tires and spun a little. but it only ran a 6.33@110 on the 9.91 pass a couple weeks ago. hope to run some 9.7s when i go back to a 1/4.

Need to find a shop that knows how to build one. Talk to Ellis, on here, or Dana at Pro Trans. Dana's web site is somthing like 700r4 dot com, not sure exactly. Mine has a Trans Go shift kit and vacuum modulator. Ellis has some good running 4L60Es "around here". 95% of the transmission shops don't seem to have a clue how to make one live. A Powerglide will slow down a good hooking small block car. They are easier to make hook up, however. Almost like taking off in 2nd gear with a 4L60E.

Good luck, Ed
