9.60 @ 137

9.60 @ 137
This is what my mechanic Fernando typed up on another site...
I'm quite excited about the way the car performed even though it was less than perfect. Before we tonight, the fastest GTO had run a best of 9.67 and our goal was to beat that. I set the boost at 12 lbs to see what would happen. First run... 9.63 at 135!! Hell yeah! It left with a 1.45 60'. Ran 6.1 in the eighth.
I was happy with that, but I wanted to beat the record by a little better margain. I turned up the boost 1 more pound and set it down the track again to back up the first run. Car spun bad and only had a 1.60 60'. He got it under control and I was thinking to myself... "Just let out". But he didn't. At the 1000' we could hear the car on the rev limiter. Crap! Ran out of gear. But still, it ran 9.60 at 137. We probably lost 3 mile an hour with the rev limiter crap.
Mick was then "invited" to the tower where he was told that we couldn't run the car anymore without having the cage certified and getting an NHRA licence. We knew that would be coming at some point, but damn! They sure got rid of us quick.
We're going to get it certified and come back out and push it a little harder. 8's here we come!
Ok now I am talking again...
My GF has the timeslips so I can't give you the breakdown until I get them from her later.
The car was real real loose on the big end and I let out shortly after the 1/8 on the first pass and got back in it. I didnt want to risk the car or my safety. Second pass felt much smoother... Just spun out of the hole though!
I will post timeslips also... Lots of people were there watching to verify.
