Default Piston hitting Heads?

ok i got a lil issue, i recently picked up my dream car, 83 z28 i got it for 300 bucks, converted from 305 to what im guessing a 350 and no manual trans, has a th350 with a B&M quicksilver shifter, gave me brand new GM performace heads for free, soo... now i got spairs, the only downside to the car is a loud taping sound

I have done small things, took off the valve covers checked for movement, didnt see anything, so i went to the side that had the tapping sound, and removed the head, what i found was what i want to say was #7 pision hitting the head, was trying to figure out what caused it and is there anything i can do to fix it without doing a complete removal or brake down, if not thats ok ill do what i have to do to get her running again.

My guess so far, is that the copper head gasket was too thin for the head-piston clearence? Can anyone help me please?

that my friend is a spun bearing allowing the piston to slap the head right now you need at least a crank and two rods, gaskets, rings, cam and those look like 305 pistons to me

i agree spun rod bearing but theres still a good chance you can have the crank turned and do not need to replace it any way good luck.

383 sounds nice, 454 sounds better, just looking for something to get the car moving again.
