Default Building A Motor On A Budget

I have a 350 small block 010 block casting bottom end is stock i have 882 heads but they were leaking oil so i figure ill just replace the heads with better ones i also have a HEI setup 600CFM Carter carb & Long tube headers

I was thinking of running either camel hump 202 heads or vortec heads im looking to make around 400HP so if you can help me out with heads and cam selection that would be great

Im looking to build this motor for around 1,000

Either way the heads are most likely going to need dual valve springs so im ready for that...

This motor will be hooked up to a TCI turbo 400 transmission and a 3,000 conveter & 3.73 gears

what would need to be done to the vortec heads to run a bigger cam because stock valve springs only hold to 480 lift i think and how much is it going to cost me ?

It is a good idea to go with the Vortec heads. I would upgrade the valve springs for up to 0.60" lift since the stock springs can't go above 0.47" or so they say.

I'd go with a Edelbrock air-gap intake for the vortec heads for an intake.
