I agree Vortec 062 heads are the best, but it requires intake manifold to mate the TBI. They run $400, plus the cost of heads, rockers, and push rod. You also have to drill tap exhaust manifold and run pipe for EGR.

Im trying to go cheap, only using the truck to commute. Just need something reliable.

Wondering if the Summit racing heads will work on my engine and still pass CA emission.

Competition Products sells intakes for the 062 much cheaper than that...http://www.competitionproducts.com/P.../#.V5IQztQrK9I This might work if not you might be able to use a spacer-adaptor.

cookseyb that intake looks like it has no option for EGR.

I did some research found out the summit racing heads wont fit because the angle of the 2 center bolt not being vertical.

Is there another option for tbi cast iron heads out there?

I do hate the fact GM Vortech heads cant mate with TBI intakes.

If you have center bolt valve covers, than any center bolt valve cover cylinder head will work except for a Vortec or LT1 head.

This is the cheapest option on Summit at $995 for the pair: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/s...make/chevrolet

If you don't mind going used, you could check eBay and Craigslist for a pair of Corvette 113 heads. The 081 305 heads or 083 L98 heads would also work, and would be much cheaper to scoop up than the 113s.
