From your post I would have to assume you have little mechanical knowledge, I would take the car to someone with experience, My first guess is either the accelerator pump is either not working or not supplying enough fuel possibly out of adjustment or the squirters are to small. There are other possibilities but with the info you provided it's hard to say for sure.

Clogged Fuel Filter
MY first guess is a fuel filter problem.
My method, find the filter, remove it from the car, inlet end pointed at a paper towel, "shake" the filter allowing the fuel to run onto the white inspection area.
Then provide a report ?

Fuel Filter Condition
My request is directed, by courtesy, to a "new" mechanic.
The most easy to observe item IS the filter, trying to get a report is hard.
That report WILL allow ALL here to give further help.
My guess is Rust in the filter, that evidence.
A clean filter would be GREAT, observed from the report.
MY NEXT direction would be to open the carb, Holley/Rochester, with instructions for the correct brand.
WHEN a Car/carb "sits" for some time, the bowl fuel evaporates AND can plug the main jets.
This is common though my "guess" is uneducated.
A great amount of work, if incorrect, could be in vain.
My "fun" here is to be of help, better than Checkers.
