Here are the most affordable 18 degree heads I can find:

That intake runner is a monster though, way too big for anything less than a 400 I'd bet.

I had a set of the Trick Flow Twisted Wege heads GI.
I went 11.70s with a flatop 406, 575 at 252 dur flat tappet cam in a 81 Bu. I was very happy with those heads for a street motor. Bone stock bottom end 350 507 cam those heads went 12.80s, 3:73 gear, same car stock susp.

look in the new summit catalogue at the Trick Flow 23° Kenny Dutweiller CNC ported heads. ive heard MANY good things about them and they run 1100 bucks a set. im looking at getting a set of regular trick flow 23° heads soon and having a local guy port them. he LOVES these heads and told me to expect around 270-280cfm after hes done porting.
BTW if you want 18° heads, the trick flow 18° heads are cheaper than the brodix ones if i remember right. but you need an 18° intake manifold, special pistons and custom headers as well.

my dad has an old set of angle plug heads with alot of hours of porting and polishing on his 350. 610 lift cam, 300 duration, 10.5:1 compression, 850 cfm demon, and he ran a 13 flat @ 108 mph in a heavy '57 belair on street tires. Thats alot of power out of some out dated heads. If only he would put some slicks on there and run a decent 60 ft time.

I know a guy that has a s10 blazer he drags. It has a sb 400. His cheap *** had cast iron stock gm heads on it and it ran a consistant 6.6 -6.4 in the 1/8, pretty respectable. He just bought and installed a set of fast burn gm heads with new intake and ran 5.99 on his first pass. Maybe another option, but I'm not up on small block heads.

I would not spend good money on heads and then have them ported to flow 270-280cfm. You can buy cnc heads that flow that and don't have to pay the high labor for port work. AFR has good flowing heads in the 210 and 220cc size that flow 280 -290 at .600 lift.
Now picking up a good set of heads used and then porting is another story.

and they will do it with a smaller intake port which will help with better torque production vs. the slightly bigger AFR heads. the gains wont be huge but when you are on a budget, every little bit helps.
