Default cam install in car?

I have never done this before, ive only installed them on motors out of the car that I was rebuilding. How hard is it?

Right now the motor is a COMPLETELY stock 400 sbc. Now by me adding long tube headers, performer rpm manifold, edelbrock 650 carb, comp 268h cam, and electric fans how much power increase will i notice?

When replacing the cam obviously I need to change the lifter but do I also need to change the timing chain and valve springs with the comp 268h?

Great advice.....get a double roller timing chain and DITCH the edelbrock
I had a edelbrock on my 406 and then bought a holley 750 double pumper and nearly shat my pants when i discovered how much that edelbrock was chokin the engine.

Its not difficult. really the only thing is its hard on is your back from leaning over the fenders.

Depending on what kind of car it is, most likely you will have to take out the radiator. All you have to do is make sure there is enough room to get the cam all the way out. Its really easy if your installing a cam where all you do is line up the dots to time it, otherwise the driver's side head has to come off to degree the cam properly.

.

The more stuff you remove out of the way the easier. Other than that, it's the same as a stand, just stretch your back before, during & after.

Why does everyone hate on edelbrock carbs. I have had nothing but luck with them. The few holley carbs I had were junk. For the money the edelbrock worked well for me and still does.

DO NOT buy a 650 edelbrock for that motor, you'll hate it. Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying I dont like edelbrock carbs, I love my 750, but a 650 just isnt enough carb for that.

I have had nothing but trouble with them, have had a lot of luck with holley. I guess it's one of those hit and miss things. Any kind of carb that could be listed, someone would probably have something to say about it.

And for the 650....definately not enough carb for that engine...GO BIGGER
