89 iroc z help..
so i got a 89 iroc z with factory 350 n i jus pulled it outta the garage after sittn for bout a year or so i have done a bit of things to it as far as replacing no perf. mods only a few but ok i put a new ecu. injectors fuel pump before i put it up for that year but i had it runnin ok for a week or so then my starter went out so i pull it off n its crackd so i go get a new one n turn the key n nothin it cracks the starter again i pull the plugs n gas poors outta the block im completly lost help...

Putting an antique out-dated carb on it will not solve his starter issues.
Are you sure you hooked up the starter wires correctly when you installed the new one? Since you said you turned the key and nothing happens that leads me to there. Also every time you turn the key I think the injectors will squirt too, so there is why the cylinders filled up with fuel.

Fastest cars that I know are all carbed, only a few that are injected.
I would not be so quick to bash a carb.
When buying any engine used I would at least pull the heads and pan and check everything.
If its hydrolocking and you suspect no engine damage pull all the plugs, pull the fuse for the fuel pump and crank the engine over for a bit, this will blow out all the water.

Carbs are for racing, fuel injection is for street cars.
Unless you're using a power adder, then fuel injection is better for racing. Infinite adjustments without getting your hands dirty is awesome.
