Ignition wire to alternator has no fire HELP !
I just put a new alternator on my 2000 Z-28 camaro and the red wire that plugs into the top of it has no fire when ignition is on. The altenator is good had it tested before i left the store and i have a new red top battery to back it up. It will not charge the battery and ive tried to trace the little red wire but cant find where it goes please help me solve this problem on locating it where i can run a new wire from or fix the problem. Thanks

Im still running all oem electonics (No Carb set up ) Id like to run the alternator a seperate exciter wire could i do this by running a wire from the fuse block ignition fuse to a 35-500 ohm resistor then to the alternator and will this damage the alternator ? Do i need to run a toggle switch to turn it off and on or will the regulator in the alternator kick it off and on ?
