Keyless Entry Question
I just bought a 1998 camaro z/28 and it did not come with a keyless entry remote. And I looked on the door and it did not have the keyless option. My question are all ls1 cars equiped with keyless entry because it has the red light on the dash board.

The red light is the security light, I belive all the 98+ had them. It deals with the VATs system, where if the ignition is turned on without haveing the proper signal from the resister in the key, then it will kill the fuel pump after start and then the car cant go, GMs way of keeping the car from easly being jacked. I think the remote entry is seperate from that.

The alarm system was not available without also having keyless entry. The RPO code on the door sticker for keyless entry is AU0 and for the alarm system it is UA6.
You can test for the options you have by following these steps:
PROGRAMMING THE FACTORY ALRAM
ENTERING PROGRAMMING MODE
To program features, the car must be in programming mode.
1) Turn key to RUN position.
2) Turn key to OFF position.
3) Remove the RADIO fuse in the main fuse panel.
4) Turn the key to ACC
You should hear a chime to verify that the system is in the programming mode.
1 chime means you can program Exit Lighting, Delayed Illumination, Last Door Closed Locking and Lock Out.
2 chimes means your car is equipped with Content Theft-Deterrent System so you can also program Remote Keyless Entry Verification, Arming Method, Arming Verification, Driver's Door Delay and Shock Sensor Enable.
LEAVING PROGRAM MODE
When programming is done, turn the ignition to OFF and replace the RADIO fuse.

The GM part number is 16245100. Most for sale listings will include that number (or the stamping number on the case 16245100-29). However, some will actually show the wrong fob for that part number - the one you want is the 4-button model (lock, unlock, hatch, and panic button). Amazon has them for $11 and up, other sites may have varying prices.
