Default Tripmeter losing it's memory and gauges going crazy

I have rewired my car, everything works but,
the tripmeter lose it's memory after the car cuts off?
Also the gauges peg out then reset when the car is started, like when you
first hook up your battery.
Is there a memory wire in the dash cluster, that I might have not hook back up?
The odometer doesn't do this. It keeps it's memory.
Thanks

it's hard to say with the whole rewire thing, but 9 times out of 10 this behavior is sign of a battery on the verge of dieing, I know my trip odometer would reset and the gauges would "sweep" on cranking on the first crank after sitting overnight and I had my battery tested and it was putting out like half the cranking amps it was supposed to, it was still cranking perfectly even like that but a new battery solved the problem.

You know Daniel,
My battery is 5 years old and I have it mounted in the
spare tire compartment, with about 10'-12' feet of
1/0 wire to the starter.
The car cranks fine, but that just might be the problem.
I'll try the wife's battery, it's brand new.
Thanks

Load test battery to see if voltage drops when load is applied. Sometimes 12.6 volt battery is 9 volts during cranking

Been there done that. Its the battery, even though it cranks up fine the battery has issues. Now there was a TSB for this issue that GM said was the cluster (low voltage would cause the sweep/reset) .

I just went through this a month ago. Like the above posts recommend, a new battery solved the problem.
