Sure you don't have the carpet in the way of the latch?

ok, tried the key and still wouldnt shut...... its not the spring lever either cuz i completely removed the spring and took tension off the spring lever and tried to shut it and it still wouldnt shut, so its the latch mechanism for sure...... any other thoughts?? i dont wanna take it to the dealer and this sure doesnt seem like it should be that hard to fix

Can you take a picture of the lock mechanism and post it on here?

I had something similar happen when I was doing the rear hatch spring mod. There was a latch or something that got stuck. Had to unstick it with a screw driver while pressing the trunk release on my remote. Good luck. I remember getting very frustrated.
