Who has cut the metal plate in the sail panel?

Who has cut the metal plate in the sail panel? Who has cut the metal to fit an aftermarket speaker in where the factory subs were in the sail panels? How hard was it to cut and what did you all use? Was it very hard to do and was there any side affects to cutting?

That's what I'm trying to do but the mounting depth is so small most of the speakers I've looked at are deeper. So I need to cut that metal plate. I know someone here has done it I just want some feed back

I put JL 6.5 subs (not mids) in mine. The speaker magnets just barely touched the inner metal so I just spaced them out slightly with a rubber ring. It fits behind the stock grille and nothing rattles.

I got them at a local sound shop called Sounds Great.
Be warned. They didn't just drop right in. I used some clip style "nuts" on the back of the screws to make them clamp to the metal at the speaker opening. I did not have to cut or drill anything and the installation was fairly simple, BUT they did not go in using the factory screw holes.

Cool thanks. I looked at those a little but I thought I would have to cut them also. I'll call my audio shop I deal with and see if they can order them for me

They sound great for now. I have them running off of the stock Monsoon amp. This is only temporary because the Monsoon speakers went out and I wasn't paying 90 dollars for another pair of crap speakers. Even being 4ohm on the 2ohm circuit, it sounds very good. Bass response is better than the stock speakers. However, volume when the tops are out can be an issue. I'll be replacing the front components as well and then running all of them off of a 4 channel amp. It should sound worlds better after that.

I paid 164.xx for the pair several months ago, tax and all. Next time I make it down to MMP or you guys come up to the dyno, we'll meet up if you want to hear them.
