Driver Side Well
Does anyone know with a custom built enclosure how much volume you could get out of the rear driverside well? I have searched these threads and looked on different sites and found very little. I know the subthump and JL boxes give you 0.6 cubic feet but I need more like 1.25 cubes.
I have seen some nice enclosures built and I'm sure if someone went through the effort to make it they would have measured the volume, right?
Thanx in advance!

I don't know of any pre-fabbed boxes for the driver side well that will give you a cube and a quarter. You can definately have a reputable audio shop fab you one that will.

You'll have to make one yourself to get that much air space. there are a bunch of great write ups on the web for fiberglassing and I think there is a writeup specifically for f-body's on fbodyaudio.com

I have the JL Steathbox. Got it used from a buddy and am simply amazed at how hard this thing pounds. It has twice the bass and power of the 2 free air 10's I had in my old Cavalier.

First thanx for the replys, took a while but I knew I could count on somebody to help.
I know I would get more from a custom box, I wouldn't mind building one myself but was wondering about how much volume I could get.
Any pics??

I built a custom fiberglass box, and I tried to get all the available airspace I could get for my single 12". After I laid a few layers of matt, I pulled it out of the car,
Taped the top on, then poured packing peanuts into it to get a general idea of the volume I could get. If i remember correctly, I was able to eke out .91 cubic feet total internal volume. But, that was without subtracting the volume of the speaker itself. After accounting for the sub, I think it was more like .78cu Ft. Maybe some more could be gained by extending the enclosure towards the rear-passenger's seatbelt.
If you are really willing, (and have $$$ for AAA towing) build yourself a fiberglass box on the passenger side where the spare and jack are. A fiberglass box can be made in that area around 1.3-1.5 cuft.

again thax for the responses, I have 2 12's in my Z28 and was thinking of doing the same in the SS, so I will be doing the passenger box and the drivers. I just wanted to run JL 12W6v2's and wanted more space on the driver side as to not loose SQ.
Anyone know how a .6 cubed box over the recommended 1.25 box would sound for the 12W6v2?

Here is a pic of mine pre-installed...
Sorry, but this is the only pic I have of it on my computer right now.
Edit: It also has a extra box attached to the bottom so that it takes advantage of as much airspace as possible.
