Default Eclipse car stereo ???

I am looking into a ne wDeck fot my 01 SS,
I am interested in the Alpine 9835 or 9855

but also like the looks of Eclipse deck,
How good are these stereo's?
what is a good one with built in EQ + crossover and subwoofer out puts,
I see some of there decks have 8 volt outputs , will this hurt my alpine and sony amps?

Thank you for your help

I personally like the Eclipse head units and always have. They have a simple look and great sound quality. My old roommate bought one for his jeep and loves it. He is running last years model of this... http://www.cartoys.com/Default.cfm/p...CD_MP3_Player/ It has the built in EQ and will even set its self with a little mic that comes with it. I think the Alpine and the Ecplispe decks are both good choices. You just need to figure out which ones have the options at the price you want.

I've been looking at the 9855 too. I like a lot of the features it has but I'm not too sure about the glide touch bar. I'm sure it would be fine once I got used to it but I'm just worried about it since its new

I hear the fixed the problem... I might get one and try it out. If it doesn't work out I'll exchange it for something else. I miss having friends that could hook me up.

One of my friends worked at Car Toys... When I had problems with the alarm in my truck he took care of it when all the others there wanted to charge just to look at it. He also hooked me up with the system in the truck.

You have a real nice car, I love those wheels. I was parked next to you at the fair

Eclipse makes a great deck. I personally have last yr's model: CD8454. It's a great deck. 8V preouts, aux input, multi-band eq, and time alignment. The red button lighting also perfectly matches the red of the pontiac's gauges. Alpine makes quality decks too, but my vote is for Eclipse. Just my 2 cents.

I just got the alpine 9853 I like it,I personally didnt really care for the 9855 display.the 53 is pretty much the same but without that display, the owners manual is for both the 9855 and the 9853,the glide touch will take some gettin used to though, good luck

if u are going with a deck with more than 6 volt preouts, check the ratings on the amplifier to make sure it is compatible. MOST decent amps can handle anywhere from 6-10 volts.... better amps like the polk momos can handle about 12 volts i believe........ and sx kicker amps have a selectable 8v-16v input
