Default Nissan Titan vs. Mustang

Not my kill, and I don't know the mods of either car, but I witnessed a pretty good race yesterday on my way home.
Newer body-style extended cab Nissan Titan vs.
05-Newer Mustang. It had the body kit with the side-exit exhaust.

Well they lined up around 35mph, Mustang got the jump, but then the Titan went around him quick and pulled about 4 car-lengths on the 'Stang.

I just thought that was a pretty cool race, and felt like sharing.

The Titan must have been seriously modified to put on 4 car lengths...

There's no way it wasn't a V6. Unless it was a GT and the driver took the hit and then shifted immediately to 5th gear.

So what you're saying is this Titan pick-up can run right with an LS1?

The titan is stout as hell for a pick-up with the VK56de... For a pickup...

Bone stock, you're looking at mid to low 15's (15.3 is the lowest I've seen) at under 90mph. I beat my buddy's stocker in my daily...

The only time I've ever seen them in the 13's is on spray and it still wasn't trapping much over 100mph.
Certainly not trapping high enough to put four cars on a 3-valve...

Did the GT sound like it was still in 5th???

That's still slower than a new V6....

Tell me about it...
I believe C&D tested one right at 15.3 in the quarter.

On a side note, there was a Mustang V6 specs add right below this thread............................................ ........

I've seen some quick titans, but this story is really far fetched, no matter how you look at it...
The only way it could make sense is if it was a poorly driven v6 '05-current, or if the titan was modded.

The reason the ads are somewhat related to the thread are they scan the text and do a mini-search on the most popular word they find I guess

I think you're right Sarge, that's odd.

Now there's a Nissan Titan liquidation add.

I wonder what the Lounge adds look like...

Why did you even post that if it wasn't your kill and you know nothing about the Mustang or the Titan. I'm calling on this one. For all you know the Mustang wasn't even racing.

I ran a hemi dodge truck in my C5 one time. I jumped out, but at about 1/2 throttle he caught up to me, and then I just paced off of him keeping my front bumper at his door panel. I wanted to see how far he'd take it. He let out at about 95 mph. At a red-light he was rubbing "hemi this" and "hemi that" in my face. I just told him that hemis are cool. Didn't bother telling him that I was short-shifting or feathering the throttle. I think he understood when I let him jump and still put about 5 bus-lengths on him after the light turned green and before I was through with 3rd gear.

It's pretty amazing how people will believe what they want to more so than what is actually happening.

I agree. There are way too many variables for this to even be worth posting.

Well, in his case what was actually happening was he had the edge on you. He didn't know you weren't running hard.
