barely beat a trans am.
Was on my way to my dads this afternoon when what looked like a 2000 or newer trans am tried to pass me. I have been itching for a race for several weeks now and decided to see if he would play, so i down shifted and hammered it to keep him from passing. I slowed back down to the speed limit and he paced me for a little while before i signaled for me to roll my window down. He asked me to slow down to 45 50 mph. He waited till i jumped ( i am guessing he thought he was fixing to embarrass another mustang was the reason). by the end of 3rd i had 3/4ths of a length on him and it stayed that way through the top of 4th gear where i let out. i was very impressed and happy with the results. I dunno if he had any modds done to his car or not but from my experience with other slightly modded TAs im guessing he was bone stock because the ones that were slightly modded killed me. My modds consist of 75mm throttle body, bbk cai, bbk longtube headers, straight pipe through flows, tk 500 tranny with short thro shift, 4.10 gears, tons of other undercarrage modifications. oh yeah, i have smaller underdrive pulleys as well. But anyway back to the story. When i let out the TA kept going. I finally catch back up to him to give him the thumbs up but the guy wouldnt look at me. I just dont get it. i hear about TAs killing mustangs all the time, and always looking for one that can run with them but when a TA finally finds a mustang he cant just absolutely murder he wont give me the thumbs up i felt i deserved. because it was a very very close freakin race.

thanks Sarge, it holds its own against most bone stock cars but not all. i dont have a lot of mods so i dont expect to win many races against the TAs or Camaros right now. If I had a Cobra i would talk differently but I dont. I have a GT.

Good run op. Love close races. Sounds like your GT moves out pretty well. Don't worry about the t/a driver, there are alot of us f-body guys that aren't anything like that. Next time you race though, try to get us a vid!!!!!!

Congrats on the kill man, im no soar loser when it comes to racing, win or loose its all in good fun. I would of been excited as hell being in that T/A in a race that close..unfortunitley, not many people in my area have fast/modded cars so I never really get any decent races.

Nice win definitely. You're probably putting down something around 280rwhp, and combine that with 4.10s and a transmission with good gearing, and you have a car that jumps out pretty well. Of course anything past the top of 4th he would have come around you like you were standing still, and you would probably have been beaten from a 3rd gear roll, but he picked the race.

I'm gonna say that there are more that own Mustangs...but that's only because there are far more Mustangs on the road, lol.
OP, good kill, that's a strong running GT you have, and it's definitely nice to see! Good luck at the dyno.
