Thumbs up turbo z28 vs evo/cobra/sti

Well this past Sunday after a Car show we were cruising back on the highway to town and my buddies wanted to see what my cars new power was like.

The sti was behind me and the cobra was next to me.. The camera car (Honda Del Sol lol) was behind the Cobra. The sol did the 3 honks and we took off. I wasn't WOT for a second b/c I was a bit confused on who was honking rofl. But when i hit about 100 i got about 3-4 car lengths on the Cobra and about 8 on the STI (my old car lol). The cobra only has a catback an intake and Nitto 555r's and the STI has a GT30R turbo with all the normal boltons which was about 400awhp. Not bad for my first race with the new clutch shifter and power haha.

Later on we met up with another guy I know with a GT35R Evo 8. My buddies told me he upgraded the turbo again - i heard it was just ported and polished and needed the tune dialed in better. But never got confirmation from the owner.

We went on 3 honks from a 40 as well. Boost came a lil late for some reason but I pulled a car or 2 on him and he got off the throttle. I only went through 1 gear. Shortly after that he got a flat tire tho which sucks lol.

Was hoping to have a video with it but the dude in the Sol apparently hates going on his computer.

Nice kills. I know that a boosted LS1 likes yours is no joke, but I would think a 400AWHP STi would put a better fight than that. Seeing as how its your former car, I'd like to know if that is the case. Or is your car just that much faster than his.

Thanks!

The STi is pretty quick so im pretty happy to see that lol, im wondering if he just got on it late. From what my buddy said his cobra should get him around 400rwhp with the few boltons he has

On a mustang dyno it put down 490rwhp/520rwtq.

Oh and in the next few days I am racing an 89 EF Civic hatch with a B18C1 (GSR) motor swap with a fat GT40R turbo at like 10 psi i believe he said.

Nice numbers. Not too crazy, but runs well. That b18 is gonna ******* lag hard, but its top end should be monsterous.

Yea the numbers arent that amazing. The tuner informed me he only did about 12 degrees of timing at 10 psi (which i was a bit surprised of, but it runs pretty solid). At least my bottom end is staying together i guess is the plus haha

At the end of the day, if your motor is still in your car, and running right.....it was a good day.

Not bad on the stock shortblock. And with only 12* of timing, that isn't too bad, and should hopefully keep your engine alive. I bet that is a fun little set up.

I was thinking exactly the opposite. Then I saw the stock shortblock comments. Nice kills

eh you might as well keep the tune you have unless you have the money to spend on another shortblock. you know it will hold at this power level but it might pop if you push any more out of it. just a thought.
