Finally got my first race Well I finally got a race in the new car. It was a kid I have been looking forward to racing since I got the car. He has a 2003 Mustang GT 5-speed with a cat-back, CAI, a larger air plenum, and 4:10s. I asked him if he wanted to run from a dig or a roll. He said from a stop so off we went.
When we got to the spot, he told me to honk; so on the third one I waited to punch it until I heard his engine. I just got new Nittos on tonight so when I punched it, my car just hooked and went. He spun a bit through first and then hooked good in second and took off but by that time I was already a good car to car and a half ahead. When I let off it at the quarter mile mark I had about 2 1/2 cars on him.
We talked after the race and he said he popped the clutch a little too much and spun quite a bit off the line. He said he wants to do it again sometime soon because he believes that he can get a much better launch. Im really looking forward to a roll race. It should be really close if he dosen't win.

Great kill! That's about the result I was expecting when that race finally happened. I think it will definitely be much closer when you guys go from a roll. If he got some drag radials on his car then it'd probably be a great race from a dig as well.

There's the key. Without drag radials I don't see it happening. An auto LT1 with 3.42's and Nittos is gonna take it every time against a 5-speed GT with stock tires. On the other hand, the GT and the LT1 will probably trap right around 100mph with the mods, so I see a roll race being close. The 4.10's aren't the best for that, but neither is an auto trans.
