Default 2006 Sti vs. 99 Formula

I got into a race with my uncle's 2006 Subaru Sti a couple weeks ago. His car is making 280 AWHP and 325 ft lbs torque. He gave me a ride in his car before we raced, and I have to say that car was pretty impressive. I thought I might have a hard time with this car, but we raced 3 times. The 1st race from 60mph to 125mph was where my car felt the strongest. I instantly pulled a couple car lengths, when all was said and done I was about 3 or 4 car lengths ahead at the end of 125mph. In the 2nd race, 0-90mph was a strong point for the Sti, he had about a car and a half length on me until about 65mph, when I got into 3rd gear I passed him and we shut down about 90mph and I was about a car length ahead of him. In the 3rd race, 40-120mph, the Sti jumped out ahead about a half a car, when I hit 3rd gear again I passed him and had a 2 car lead when we shut down. The Sti was definitely quicker than me 0-60, but in my opinion my car was stronger up top.

My mods are: SLP flow pack, LS6 intake, WS6 store short stick, SLP loudmouth 1, and my car was tuned. I'm making 327 RWHP, and 343 ft lbs torque.

Good kills! Those cars car great out of the hole and very cool little cars IMO. It seems to be more difficult to get hp out of them than an EVO, but they are much better looking.

I had an 05 STi, it was ***** fast out of the hole, but ont he highway it wasn't too much to worry about. Aerodynamically they are bricks. WHen you hit about 90MPH the car starts to whine, ALL of them fo it. It is because they are NOT designed for high speed, more for low end thrust for getting around rally courses and auto-X events.

I had alot of fun with it, but my Z06 absolutely dominates it in everything except hole shot and all weather driving ability. The STi was alot of fun in rally-x and on the beach in the OBX....

Thumbs up

That STi did pretty good considering the mods to your car..get some drag radials or slicks then race him outa the hole...

I had an 04' STi, I was probably pushing 275 awhp and 300 lbs torque untuned, running a stage 2 ots map ! It was fast out the whole but again, a slug from a roll(40-45mph is the sweet spot for STi's). The turbo is not big enough to support high speed, it runs out of air, plus the 4wd system. That's the way Subaru designed it, a low to midrange car that's not really meant for drag or roll racing but still does well for what it is.

I loved that car it was fun !
