SS vs RS4...Europe is angry
I was out for a cruise to blow off some steam from being kind of grumpy that I worked literally all 4th of july weekend since I needed to finish a Project for an OSHA inspection tomorrow, flipped around at a jug handle on a 2 lane highway. As I was waiting at the light, I see a dark blue audi pass by with 2 young kids driving it. It doesn't look like a run of the mill a4, so i'm intrigued. My light goes green, once I get down the road, I see the next light is red, with cars lining the main 2 lanes. At this light, a third lane opens up that almost immediately turns off onto a side street with just enough room for a couple of cars to comfortably swing back into the highway lanes. Deciding I want to get by the traffic, I get into this lane and notice the dark blue audi sitting there, left blinker on, planning to get in front of the line of cars like I am. I notice the RS4 badge and a nice aftermarket sound exhaust.
Light goes green, he takes off and I follow suit, he gets into the right lane, leaving me to swing into the left lane, which by the time I got into the left lane he had 2 cars on me. I went WOT, passed him around 80 and pulled a car and a half on him to 120. We gave each other thumbs up, he told me it was an 07 with (insert very german sounding name here) catback, and we went on our way.
I thought those cars ran ridiculous times, don't they? I know they have the s4's too but this thing definately had Rs4 badges, and the body kit looked a little over the top for an s4 model. Anybody know the specs, 1/4 time and trap on these things? without knowing, I kind of wonder if the guy was sand bagging me but he sounds wide open...
My mods, as far as I know, are lid, catback, ls7 clutch, slp bellow, and that's about it...

Not sure on this, but isn't an s4 just a glorified a4? I am sure it spanks the a4, but I think they are the same platform. Hope someone else chimes in that knows more i'd like to know too.

I think body wise and suspension wise the s4 is exactly the same as the a4 IIRC, but they have a 4.2 or 4.5 liter v8. The RS4 has an upgraded suspension and is around 400hp or something of the sort of of the same sized v8. I just wouldnt have expected to take an RS4 out

Matters which s4 it is. The bi turbo v6 makes about 250/258. The 4.2 v8 makes 340/302. The rs4 uses the same 4.2 engine buts its tweeked to 420/412. RS4s are AWD. do 0-60 in high 4s. weight in at about 4000lbs. Run low 13s high 12s like fbodies

The S4 has a different suspension setup than a base a4 (as well as other changes, including some special AWD traction system, thing...), it also has a more mild 4.2L V8 than the rs4 up until 2008. The new S4 has a supercharged 3l V6 with less power than the 4.2 V8 it replaces (don't ask me why...). The V8 S4 runs high 13's at about 103mph. It outran an STI in a Top Gear special.
The RS4 makes 420hp from a higher output 4.2L V8 and weighs just over 3700lbs. It runs very low 13's/high 12's at about 108mph (edmunds claims 12.8 at 108mph).
I would expect it to be a close race with a lightly modded (or even stock) LS1 from a roll, especially pending driver skill.
Nice kill.

+5! Thats what I was going to say! I didnt know that the new S4's went back to a V6! Most likely because the V8 platform costs just as much money to upgrade performance parts as it does to buy the car! I found some packages that ran up around 40k dollars but couldnt get you past 12's in the 1/4 mile! Big *** waste of time in those 4.2's!!!! I would much rather take a B4 S4 and mod the **** out of it!!! They make some quick lil track cars!! Think the fastest I found ran 9's

The RS6 is also pretty amazing. It's the only sedan I would equally consider with the new CTS-V.

Yeah, the old S4's were pretty nice. The 4.2 will still be home to the RS4, weaker R8, as well as the medium and large sedans (A6, A8, and their variants). The SC V6 will only be in the S4 and A6 from what I've read though. It should be good, but it would have been better to see a couple turbos strapped to it IMO.

Nice kill I guess, I would expect the rs 4 to win, 350hp vs 420hp, I know they lost more power on the drivetrain because of awd, I'd say they make a slight
