Default 00 Camaro SS found a 2010 Camaro SS to play with

After sitting at the track for 4 hours and only getting 2 runs in I was pretty frustrated. Anways, while cruising back on the freeway I see a set of tailights that catches my attention. Looky looky a new camaro, these are really rare in my area and people are charging $45,000-$50,000 for them. I go around the guy and give him a few revs. We find a nice stretch on the freeway that looks clear and he pulls up beside me. I look over and it looks like a young 16 year old who is talking on his cell phone wtf? Its a nice blue or black one with white stripes, not sure it was dark. I look over at him to see if he wants to run but hes talking on his phone.

We slow down to about 60 and I drop her down into 2nd to see if he will play. He hammers it and puts half a car on me before I get on it. Rev her out to 6500 with the shift light blairing in my face and we are door to door. Slame 3rd and we are still dead even until about 90 which surprised the **** out of me. I begin to pull pretty good on him and shut her down around 110 with a 2-3 car lead its really hard to tell. I don't know if he got out of it or anything at all. After that I wanted to talk to him but he slowed way down and never caught back up to me. No idea if it was a stock, modded, auto or stick. It sure took off hard from a 60 roll though. That thing ran way harder than the procharged 09 gt mustang I put buses on.

Auto's are much slower than its competent 6 speed applications. Chances are, you ran the 6 speed!!

The auto's are still 400+hp.

It was most likely a stock auto.. With factory warrantys I doubt most people are modding them.. yet..

remove the tourqe managment system on the '10 ss and it's just as quick as a manual. Good kill OP.

I have a hard time believing it was stock but I will never know. I never did see if the kid put his phone down or not to shift. Stock LS1's F-bodys in my area are trapping 99-101 mph @ the track, but I have yet to see a 2010 Camaro at the track. I trap around 113-115 so I am not sure how he kept up for a while, but than again he got the jump.

I find that very hard to believe. Hell, stock-for-stock, the '10 M6s are only marginally quicker than an M6 LS1. Did you check out the OP's sig? The OP has both the weight and the power advantage. If he can drive, he should pull a stock auto HARD.....even while giving up the initial hit. Nice kill.

Manual 10' SS are way faster than the auto SS.

couldve been a auto. He couldve also only had the torque management removed which makes it quicker. Besides, I think it was a auto because I would hope he wouldnt put the phone on his shoulder and tilt his head to talk while racing and trying to shift at the sametime if it was a manual.

Sweet, way to represent the 4th Gen. Power to weight will always win. They packed on a few pounds being off the streets for a for 8 years.

I usually am driving alone and this is only the 3rd street race I have been in this year, it hardly ever happens. No way I could film, shift and keep it on the road He may have set his phone down when he took off who knows, I down shifted and he took off. Either way I will never know and thats 3-0 so far this year

You shouldve expected to beat him regardless though manual or auto.. Your trapping 115.. No stock 10 Traps that high. Its even more of an advantage for you also since you say the kid looked 16 (somewhere around that age) which means if he WAS driving the ls3 he probably wasnt that great of a shifter/driver. But o well it is what is it. 3-0 and counting. Keep repping the 4th gen good and proud

Oh trust me I expected to blow him out of the water when I downshifted to 2nd at 60mph. That is right at 5000rpm for me and my car doesn't **** around at 5 grand. I was very very surprised to see how long it took me to go by him.

I would guess that would only be due to the aggressive shifting of the automatic. Otherwise it's still down 26hp.

I'm guessing you ran the mustang when you were on nitrous and the 10 on motor.

its one thing to start at the same time and blow by somebody....but if you have to catch them first, I can see how it would take longer since he got the jump

I dont have nitrous on my car at all, its just my name. The 383 refers to the engine for my chevelle, solid roller 383 with a big shot kit (200-400hp). The camaro is N/A for now.
