2010 GT500 Kill
At a local dragstrip Friday and I make it a few rounds in the street class (bracket racing). The next thing i know I'm lined up next to a brand new gt500 with some m/t slicks (gulpp..)No telling what he had done to the motor if he already put slicks on this brand new car. So i pull up proceed to do my burnout.. 1st...2nd.... then roll out in the throttle(a4). I stage blinking on the first bulb for racer courtesy. Then he blinks on the first set of bulbs and proceeds to put on the second set. Im dialed in at a 13.1 with lts/ory/and some mt street radials. He dialed at an 11.72. My lights came down first i cut a .017 light and get through first before i see him leave. I look back and hes pullin hard gettin closer and closer. My Ls1 strugglin into 3rd with the stock 2.73s. He continues to pull to the 1000ft when i finally get into third were gettin close to the end. I can see the light. We cross the finish line with me ahead by about a car and a half. You couldnt wipe the smile off my face lol. I went around to the time slip booth and directly looked at it. I ran a 13.14 at 107.4 and he had a 11.86 at 125. I got him on the reaction time. He had a .386 lol. The guy standing there could of went knock on his window and tell him the light was green
Thanks guys for reading my story. Love the ls1tech forum. Lots of help and good people.

Thanks man!
Numbers are:
596 whp @ 6600-rpm
558 wtq @ 3600-rpm
Numbers were with a conservative dyno tune using EFI Live not the old Hennessey tune in my sig.
Thanks for the compliments. I've had only two deaths so far, one to a friends modded '08 Viper ACR and another to a heavily built '89 turbo stang. Most people won't even race and that's no fun.

Kudos to being one of the very few vette owners who still mix it up on the streets!

That stang owner must have been SOOO stoked afterwards! Even if he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he theoretically should take you, finding a stock ZR1 to run and actually beating it has to be once in a lifetime thing! Then throw in the fact you are modded also and he probably had a hard time keeping the adrenaline from jack hammering his gas pedal right before you both took off.

It wouldn't have mattered. If you were bracket racing, it all comes down to the consistency of the car and the driver skill. The whole point of it is that it takes the "fastness" of the car out of the equation.
Nice kill. I don't do much bracket racing anymore because I always go to rentals now, but it is fun sometimes.
