Whipple Cobra vs. Intake/Straight Pipe C6 Z06
Vids didn't come out too well, but I'll throw them up anyways. Except for the third video, all runs were first gear rolls from 30-40 up to 145-150. The third vid was a low second gear roll, but the C6 Z may have been in first. Either way, he loves first gear rolls so I agreed to give him the rolls he wanted even though traction would be an issue.
Race details:
Weather was a cold 47 degrees out. Neither one of us could get traction, as you can see in the first two videos, but we made the best of it. The third run only went up to about 120 before we had to let off. The fourth run both of us spun the least and that was easily our best run.
No excuses, 'ifs' or 'buts', the runs are as is and were friendly.
EDIT: I guess I F'd up posting the vids here, but they came in fine on SVTP. These are the first and third vids. I'll try to fix it tomorrow. See second post to watch vids.
EDIT 2: Took photobucket vids off and posted youtube vids. These work fine.

EDIT: I'm not sure why the vids aren't coming in right. Here's a link to the thread on SVTP, the videos came in fine over there.
EDIT 2: Vids hosted on youtube now. They work fine.

So is this a 470 rwhp C6Z vrs a 600 rwhp cobra?
Looked like the Z06 gets the lead due to power to weight/rpm's...But when the cobra got in the longer gears and really got to settle on it's power it was closing the gap...
Good runs with interesting results

Assuming stock motor, usually the blower with the larger bore makes more power. For example, KB makes(ed) a 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, 2.8, and now a 3.6.
Whipple makes a 2.3, 3.4, and now a 4.0.
The larger the blower, the more power that blower should make per pound of boost. The two blowers that are the exception to this 2.3L Whipple and 2.6H KB, which are pretty much equal from what I've seen. One thing I have noticed is that Whipples do make more torque than KB's.
But this is a real general statement on my part. At the track, the KB2.8 and Whipple 3.4 blowers are the big dogs and run the quickest/fastest times for a PD blower. To date, I believe the fastest PD is still a Whipple 3.4 car.
But I did make a small mistake on the mod list for the Z06. He has only a tune and straight pipes, not an intake. My bad.

Definitely hearsay, but to an extent. And it's kind of hard to say which blowers make the most power when dynos all across the country spit out different numbers, and different tuners tune more or less aggressively.

The Z06 makes 465RWHP, the Cobra makes 580RWHP/550RWTQ. The Z06 jumped out because he just got better traction than me on the hit. I spun every single run (as did he), and even wheel hopped on 3 of them. And this is with bald Hoosier DR's at 16 PSI, but in 47 degree weather.

thanks for the info..HMMMM..So 115 rwhp more in favor of the cobra....600 pounds in favor of the Z06....Coeficent drag in favor of z06....
So all in all a 4 tenth faster car the cobra was young Sky Walker...very impressed....
To many vids of 600 rwhp cars being beat by stock c6z06's....good to see somthing differant..

couldnt agree more..Ive beaten one several times from a dead stop..But beating one from a roll takes significant power..Id say 500 rwhp on a 3400 pound Viper...520 rwhp on a 3500 pound fbody...550 rwhp on a 3800 pound cobra...
Thats a full bolt on srt10 viper or a head/cam every bolt on agressive tune Fbody or a well built cobra just to beat a stock Z06...
Dont care much for the styling of the just looks like a vette Z06..But theirs no denying the power

Staging Lane
yet another example of why I will own a Z06 in another 4-5 years (when I pay off my wifes soon-to-be bought GMC Terrain. Would be 2-3 years if I didn't have plans on first getting my GTO to be faster than a stock C6Z06 before I actually buy one.
Gotta love middle age w/ a good job where you can finally actually (realistically) afford to buy what you REALLY want. Work your *** off smartly you young guys out there and it WILL happen for you, too.
Wise words a older peer of mine told me that have resounded louder and louder as the years have gone by after the job that I worked hard for, slaved for, learned exponentially for, was going away and I was job hunting for a lateral transfer type job:
"Do you know how much you actually KNOW? Well don't you think it's time to get payed for what you know, not how hard you work?"

Yeah I am 37 and I am just now getting to the point where I am going to spend 6k+ probably to mod this car. Even then I will only have 20k in all at most. Then again I did just get into cars when I was 28.I wish I could have gotten into it sooner, but I worked a lot of low paying graphic design jobs in my 20s, and having a wife with kids doesn't help.
There aren't many tracks near me for me to even bother with making a "track" car, so I just want a fun street DD. I'll be happy with 350-385rwhp. I don't want to throw TOO much into it. I have other expensive hobbies. :/
