Stock '08 SRT8 Jeep vs stock '99 Z28
EDIT: Misleading title noted
2/20/2010 GRUDGE MATCH at bottom of post
Race was generated using excel spreadsheets in order to pad search results for those who have to worry about racing one of these
Jeep has some aftermarket mufflers, !resonators and a diablo tune. A4 Z28 has nitto drag radials, an open cutout and free mods. Temp in the low 50s high 40s, no burnouts and both cars with a passenger.
Race from a dig, the jeep jumped out by about a car and a half and held pretty good until about 50mph. Traction wasn't the best but the Z28 stopped the pull and started gaining ground by about 70, race ended at 110ish with the z28 ahead by about a car length or so.
It was definitely a lot of fun even though we weren't able to include a roll of any kind due to traffic. Those jeeps are awesome to the max, inside and out so I was pretty pleased with the results
2/20/2010 EDIT: Jeep wasnt happy with the results so he got an e-mail tune from modular depot and this time the excel spreadsheet just so happened to be Bradenton Motorsports Park
The tune made a world of difference, I pulled on the predator tune pretty easily but the email tune is a whole different animal. the jeep pulls much much better in the mid/top range now and i was unable to gain any ground on him until a good ways into the second half, tune had to be worth a good .3-.5.
So after a few feeler runs and the 2 PBs on the final run of the day, the grand total is Z28 - 2 SRT8 Jeep - 3. but its my turn for some mods and this is definitely to be continued....

SRT8 jeeps are amazing froma dig. My buddy got one and ran a 12.9 when the car only had 350 something miles on it lol
But from a roll its a different story. 40mph-100mph roll we did i was in third gear at 40 and let him jump and just walked right past him. The a light caught us and he took me all stupid lol.
And he is always down to run when it rains

Both guys I've talked to with them ran a 12.9 stock as well. Not long ago I ran one in the tbss from around 70mph. He was stock as far as I could tell and I was only able to slowly pull him.
After learning more about the srt it only makes me regret buying the tbss. Thx ls1tech

[QUOTE=buddha845;12840063]I see about 5 srt8 jeeps to every 1 TBSS if im lucky lol, the TBSS isnt nearly as popular down here. QUOTE]
Wow completely different around chicago. I was over for 2 weeks last month and i saw about 10-20 TBSS a day. I am not exagerating.

At Atco a New Jeep beat me by .3 when i was bone stock with about 1k miles on it in Feb 06' (13.3 v 13.6, even though earlier I was running 13.5's & even a 13.49) and it was all in the 60' he cut a 1.83 to my 2.01.
They have a great Tq converter & that 5spd helps them. outside of that on the go? They're very evenly matched with the Jeep probably a car from 60-120. CAI Tune on a TBSS & it's neck and neck on the move with a Jeep, but wil still get smoked out of the hole by a stock one. TBSS Needs a converter to beat the Jeep & speaking from experience, it's a hell of a beating when you get one. 3200 dropped me .4 1/4 & .34 in the 60'.

Me too but I know first hand it is not the case. I had a similar run with one with the same results. Those Jeeps are fast from the hole but then aerodynamics, weight and the extra front mounted differential betrays it....

I've never been a big fan of factory freaks but 13.6 is plain nasty stock and 13.3 alittle on the slow side for the srt. A coworker and I bought our wives tbss the same day and took them to the track a couple of weeks later. We only made one pass but I ran a 14.6 and he a 14.8. Houston Raceway Park isn't known for being slow either.
