Default 97 Cobra vs 06 Monte Carlo SS

This isn't the best quality, but oh well. The camera car was the monte! Both cars had passengers. The monte has intake, exhaust and a tune, it was tuned by Henson in Pelham,Al. Final numbers were 267.1 and 309.7 at 90* and 54% humidity. The cobra has intake, or xpipe, slp mufflers and 3.73 gears.

Yes i missed 3rd gear in the dig run, first time racing anything. I've only had the cobra a week.

Now I need some tires and more mods.

LOL speed! Not really a ford guy, just picked that cobra up for deal. Since i got rid of my 350z, i've been itching to get something quick again.

I actually figured he would pull on the cobra before we left out.

good choice..I'd rather impress people with a NA Cobra than one of the sea of supercharged ones. Bet the 350 Z was fun..have you test drove a new one?

+1 stock 350Zs are slow, but they are still a blast to drive, also love how they sound.

If you dont mine me asking what made you go from the Z to the cobra?

Good races! The outcome was about what I expected. I don't think those Montes and Impalas get enough credit in general (probably due to the lack of aftermarket support).

Congrats on the new Cobra, I've always loved the way the 1996-1998 Cobras look. What are your plans for it?

Good call.

A lot of my friends who make payments may soon be going down the same route sadly :/

Plans are full bolt ons and shoot for mid to high 12's on a drag radial. Then 125 and go for 11's!

nice runs, from what ive read and heard 4.30s(some go as high as 4.56s) are the best gears for the 96-98 cobras. With your mods its probably a 102 mph car as it sits. they handle great and can look good too once you get rid of the stock wheels unless ti has the cobra r's...my brother has one with about the same mods and a couple little things doen and he went 104 which isnt bad.

Smart move. I got a friend who might have to sell his Camaro to get out of payments and still wants a 93-97 LT1 Camaro to buy with cash. We'll see what happens with that

Smart move on $$$ call, IMO. no payment and a car ot have fun with. Even if you get rid of it, it's fun for now and you gain some smarts venturing out.

Full bolt ons, gears and DRs are easily mid 12s with some seat time.

What he said. Nothing better than no car payment and being able to put your extra into making it faster/look better. Now if I could just pay off my G8...haha.

Sounds like you have a solid plan to me! Let us know how the modding goes.

Rear's will be turned off with the tuner/tune. There are very few mail order tunes I'd use, and even less preloaded tunes. Find a good reputable tuner and find out what software he uses...get a handheld through him, or at least the one he'd use.

Unless you plan on using sniper (self tuning software).

IMRC delete? (I'm having a brain fart) what exactly is that?

A brain fart move by Ford to try and provide some torque with those wonderful 231cfm heads. 3/4 of the time they break cause they are plastic. Mine have been out for years. But basically with a dual port head the butterflies open at 3250 and provide a little help in the lower rpms and provide a decent top end.
