mild bolt on srt10 viper vs cammed C6Z06
Fun day...
SRT10 viper is a 2003 with...
kn filters
roller rockers
titanium exhaust (light) no cats and titanium exhaust eliminated 70 pounds
no cats.....rwhp unknown
Z06 has air intake/tune/mild cam for 520 rwhp
We were waiting for my sct tune to arrive but figured we should do some before tune runs to see how much of a differance it would make after the tune...
let me say I was expecting to get pulled by a solid 4-5 cars...By all my calculations my Viper should trapp around 125 mph and his C6Z06 should trapp around 130 mph...Today I learned a valuble lesson first hand..ACHOTS and the numbers dont always tell the truth
First run off the 3 beep we hit it around 50 mph at the same time and to my surprise I pull him...I slowly pull two cars and then another car and then when I look back again he is 6 cars back...Think he gave up after he was a few cars in back..."I ACTUALLY GOT HIM" I exclaim in one of the horrible vids..
I let off and then he flew by me...
We went again from a low roll around 40 mph in second gear and he hit it a split second before I did and then commenced to put 3 cars on me by 100 mph...It was vicous...
Man...I wont let that happen again..this time I turn on my spider senses and listen for that third beep..
beep Beep BEEP...
We hit it at 30 mph and he pulls a car on me..To my surprise i say right behind him till I hit the rev limiter at 98 mph...In the oh so crappy vid you can see that Im pretty much right beside him..A car back perhaps almost at his rear bumper..You here me redline second gear and he pulls away..
i was very happy with this run because all things considered to stay right on a cammed C6Z06's rear from 40 mph to 98 mph ( were my second gear redlines) is a lot better then I would have thought my snake could do..
We tried to do a few others were I wasnt ready and he wasnt ready or their was traffic ect...
All in all a very fun day and my conclusion was that his car is probally 1-2 cars faster over all and not 4-5 like i was expecting him to be..
Now to the vids..This was my first time trying vids...The camera is upside down and it's my cell phone..The picture is also very dark and you cant hardly see anything...As well my angle that the camera is posistioned in is very bad..
In short these are the worst day time vids you'll likely ever see..
If some one nows how to make them right side up and brighten the picture I would greatly appreciate it

This to me was the best run were we hit it side by side from a low roll and then I stayed at his rear till close to 100 mph were I redlined 2nd gear..OUCH!!!!

wow man, you're telling me you cant invest $300 in a decent HD camcorder and scrounge up a old license plate as a mount? But you can afford a Viper? Same for the Z06 guy: You fellas need to go buy some pencil camera's that sport bikes use, get three of them and stick them on the dash, magnetically to the fender, etc. Come on Killemall!!
On the old license plate mount: doing it myself right now after I heard about it: pull your passenger headrest up to measure the headrest posts, and cut this type diagram out: (camera mounts at the hole, it slides in and locks when the headrest is put in place. You can then rotate camera to see all directions.)
Probably a little off in that quick sketch about the size of the jog on the left hand slot: do it slowly and you will find just the right amount to get it to rotate.

Man..Talk about my spelling/grammer all you want....But leave my driving skills alone..
You guys know how hard it is to do a day time vid like this with a cell phone? I can only record up to 24 seconds..Anything over 24 seconds and the vid cant be sent from my cell phone to my email to you tube then posted here..
So I was driving and setting up the camera....Hitting play when I thought we were both gonna go..3 beeping and then eye balling the camera to make sure I didnt eclipse the 24 seconds...
It was very hard and this is why I just ran out the gear...I was so concentrated on getting the vid in under 24 seconds...
Their was a time on the freeway were we had a 1/2 mile of empty space in front of us..perfect for a 140 mph blast..But I couldnt get the stupid camera ready and the Z06 just got frustrated and took off..
Cant blame him...
I swear Ill get a good digital camera

Good races, man! Must have been badass to run a C6Z, I've been dying to race one for a while. Too bad anything over stock would destroy me, haha.

ok, two things:
1. That is a weak cam if that ls7 is only putting down 520rwhp. That is about 20rwhp+ over what a bolt-on Z makes. (est 500rwhp)
2. No tune... I would wait until he is tuned with that cam to make a judgement call on this one.
Now, my understanding is that the roller rockers make a big difference in those cars... how much exactly, if you don't mind me asking?
