Default Taste the rainbow.

Last thursday coming home from our local car meet, ran a new friend of mine's SRT4. I haven't known him that long, so I've never really asked him whats done straight up but from what I gather its a Mopar stage 2 (whatever that entails), suspension, 2-step, stock turbo on 14psi I believe (ive heard maybe 18 though). I just need to ask him [HE ALSO HAD A HIS GF IN CAR & THIS WAS BEFORE LID, BUT NOT A BIG DIFFERENCE]

Run 1: 60 roll
I'm in 3rd, so not the best spot for me, but not too bad at all. 3 honks and we go. I run out 3rd and at almost the top of 4th he was at my bumper.

Run 2: 60 roll
Same deal for me, he brake boosts this time. Off on honk #3 and his car launches alot harder, creeping out a nose but I even it up at the top of 3rd, but miss 4th so he wins.

Run 3: 50 roll
I get a race I love (as far as high rolls go) so I think I got this one in the bag. He brake boosts real hard this time and on the 3rd honk, we both hit hard but are absolutely dead even. Through all of 3rd, we stay door to door, into 4th I start creeping out and by the time I hit the very top of 4th he lets off with his nose at my door.

Hugely fun races. Best I've had.

We will get a rematch on video soon, but I heard he might up the boost or use some of the race gas a friend has laying around. We are trying to get a bunch of people to go out to race at a new spot that apparently dead hooks 10 scond cars, so it might come then, as well as a VERY much anticipated full race of what happened last night (bolt-on LT1 WS6 m6 vs stock LS1 Z28 auto). Tempers will flare after that one Also in that (hopefully), LS1 80s Dodge Ram vs that same ls1 a4 z28.

Why 3rd at 60? Sounds like some fun runs. I'm pretty pissed, I just dogged a mystic 04 cobra for like 10 miles but he wouldn't give me the time of day (This is after he flew on the highway at probably 110 cutting off 14 cars so I figured he might be game.)

I have 3.73s so 2nd would be like a 1 second hit. And some people drive fast cars like ******** just because they are retarded.

I had 3.73's on my old cammed T/A and I always used 2nd at 60, but yeah it was a quick shift after that. Right now I'm rolling 3.23's and M6, 3rd at 60 is like 2800 rpm

Soon as he ups the boost your toast as far as rolls go, and if he gets a Down pipe along with that it will be even more one sided off a roll.

However just refuse to race him off anything other then a dig

His 2 step launches are pretty hard, ill ask him what his mods are tonight if i see him. Like I said, never asked him straight up, jsut heard second hand what they were. More boost = his backside for me.

Why would he use race gas just to beat you (or run a certain time at the track)?

Unless it's a dedicated race car, or you're driving around on race gas all the time, I'm much more impressed by what a car can do any time (on 93 pump) than what it can do with race gas. Sure it's fast, but only for that tank...who really cares?

Same goes for nitrous...

this comment confused me, did you do a auto to manual swap, or purposely put 3.23's in. i thought for sure all m6's came with 3.42's. just wondering.

He has 2 step? In that case all bets are off lol

They are mean little cars, a buddies had aftermarket 2 step with launch control that kept him at the point right before spinning thru 1st and second.

Needless to say his consistent 4500rpm launches murdured me on the street.

My brothers '01 M6 TA had the worst gears you could get: I believe it was 2.73? Or might have been 3.23's (pretty sure it was 2.73) but either way the gearing sucked bad. He purposefully ordered it that way so that his girlfriend didn't kill herself (atypical blonde who stares at you while she is never ending talking while driving down the road in traffic).

Nope. Did get a consistent 30+mpg on his road trips he took it on though. Had a lid and Borla catback with crappy all season tires. Worlds fastest Geo Metro. 2nd gear was rediculous: must have done 120mph or some such in it. He griped for two years about the gearing on it, all the way up until he sold it. -- And HE ordered it that way! lol

He convinced his wife to get rid of her 2001 BMW 5 series M5 clone on the promise that the LS1 bird would get alot better mpg and be more reliable (her beemer was in the shop every other month- and it was only 2 years old with 20,000 miles).

I think they just got it for next to nothing, or he might have some of his dads laying around (1st gen Camaro, BBC huge blower, 3600+hp). Basically the gas would be just for fun.

Still spins a bit, but gets off the line good.

Yep, sure did. Gonna kill off the 10 bolt before I bother upgrading gears. Of course I was logging my timing changes today and noticed my tach has gotten even more off than it was, used to be 100-200rpm off, now its 400-600rpm off at all speeds (idle shows 1200rpm lol).

Someones bitter.

IMO the one race you woop someones *** on the bottle is all you need. When its empty you fill it back up.
