Default Weekend fun

Buddy of mine called me up to let me know his friend with an Evo X was looking for someone willing to play, told him I was always willing. Mods were K&N filter and muffler delete, guy is a really good driver. I have a set of 325/50r15 ET Streets borrowed since I'm going to Mokan, MO to race 1/4 tomorrow, so I tossed them on.

Highway run: Tried to slow down but traffic was coming up behind us so we went from around 40-45...just the right area I'm not comfortable pulling the car into 1st gear. I motion him to go so he got a hard hit.

He jumps out about half a car since I was sitting at the bottom of 2nd. Once I hit 3000rpm or so I start sucking him back in, by the time I pass 4500rpm I am starting to pull strong and get 3/4 car out and realize I'm a moron not paying attention since the shifter was in 2nd so I'm on the rev limiter.

He grabs a gear and gets a full car out before I get the bitch to settle down and as soon as she hits 3rd I start pulling back even harder. By 120 I was 1 car out and he shut down, told me later he knew it was over by then and called it good.

Short dig: We go BS and I invite everyone back to my place for beers. We end up at a stoplight by chance and he asks for a quick dig because he thinks he'll do better.

Light turns green and we launch at the same time. By the time we got through the intersection I was out 1/2- 3/4 car and by the time I chirped 2nd gear I was an easy 2 cars out and pulling so we shut down.

Then today I was out cruising and just about to tuck in for the afternoon and spotted a 2010 GT a few lanes over headed for the highway so I follow. He spots me and starts driving kinda crazy. The car clearly had some sort of exhaust minimum, was also a manual.

We line up but he won't slow down so we go from a high roll...I was at 4500rpm in 2nd. I let him get the hit and then jump into it hard. Finished out 2nd and a ways into 3rd with him 1.5-2 cars back by about 100.

Loving the nice weather...lots of good cars coming out.

Sunday I'm hitting the strip with a 01 T/A, 98 z/28, 92 lti swap camaro, srt8 jeep, 2011 gt, 03 cobra, and possibly a 00 SS. Should be some good times!

Nice runs. Always good to put the Evo guys back in their place. Weather must be getting better down there now that the tracks are opening.

Good kill, i'm surprised you didn't pull the X harder.

The X has a ton of potential, but's it's damn heavy. The 4B11 responds to mods just as well as the 4G63 did, so they can make solid power with basic mods.

A guy I know has an Evo X and he said it was pretty much stock so I asked if he wanted to run the G8. He said his father has a G8 and he beat it up pretty good, so he didn't want to take the chance of getting caught. I found out it has a CAI and tune and then I found out they gain like 50 hp with those mods. No wonder he killed his dad's G8

Sorry for no vids...the guy almost didn't show up so it was a last minute thing.

I ran 12.24@110 with a 1.77 60 ft (rolling into it and hitting it a few feet out, the mickies weren't sticking for a full blown launch).

I feel like my trap speed is about 5mph low for some reason. For reference the CAI, exhaust cobra was trapping 115 and my buddies 98 m6 camaro with ls6, lt, lid, open exhaust, 3.90 9 inch was trapping 110. He was running 13.0-13.2 (street tires)

Either way I was stoked, we had 77% humidity so I was thinking I would be closer to 12.4 at best.

Sounds like it was a slow track day, nothing to be worried about. With a real launch, that is an easy 11 waiting to happen.

DA was 1842. At sea level it should have been an 11 second pass. I was stoked with the ET. If I could have hooked a full launch I might have got another .05-.1

I'm just more worried about trapping the same as a bolt on/Frost tune Fbody. Granted I dunno what he weighs.

The other fbody was a 01 trans am 6 speed, weighs ~same as me: rebuilt ls1, 98 cam, ls6 intake, slp lid, 1 7/8 headers, LM1, stock gears. He trapped 108 pretty consistent. (bad stock 01 tune...car lopes like its cammed and idles like crap on startup)

The m6 2011 5.0 3.73 base GT: 13.2Xs@111mph with 2.0 60 ft street tires, bone stock, getting wheel hop

2003 Cobra: 12.3-12.6 @115mph, drag radials, CAI, exhaust

SRT8 Jeep: 13.44@102, nitto invos, stock

lt1/t56 swap 92 Camaro: 13.5@?, posi is dead...1 wheel peel, best 60ft of 2.3

I have a video of my 12.24 pass to upload tonight.

Yeah EVO said he wasn't going to show after all so I just went prowling and forgot the camera. I'm going to start just carrying it everywhere now that nice weather is showing up. I pulled a 1.77 60ft at the track the exact same way I street launch on DRs.

I want to get a GoPro too.

Nice kills on the Evo and nice track times. Considering the DA, it looks to me like that Cobra's running just fine. 115 traps from a CAI/catback Cobra in a near 2000 DA is pretty close to what I'd expect from a decent driver on drag radials. I certainly don't see him picking up too much mph in those conditions.

How much does your car weigh and have you been to the track previously with this setup?

$227 for a new one on sale at amazon.com right now. You've got to add it to the cart to see the price

3700-3740# roughly (very highly educated guess based on known weight in street trim vs the weight I pull from the trunk at the track)

First time in the 1/4. Traps high 89mph in the 1/8th consistent.

Calculators estimate this putting me at only 360rwhp. I think my mods should be worth a little more to the tire than this unless the stall, heavy drag radials, and 12 bolt are just eating more than I think.

I'm pleased with the ET, just wondering if I should be concerned about looking for issues causing a low trap. Car runs smooth with no misfires. Idles funny sometimes but I can't find any vacuum leaks so I've chalked it to poor idle tune.

Nice times! Have you ever gotten a clean dyno run with this setup? If I remember correctly you were having issues on the dyno.

Yeah, the complete motorsports kit is $227.

If you're looking to buy one just search amazon for "gopro motorsports" click the new ones and add the one sold by amazon to the cart.

Bad pinion angle and driveshaft first try for a tune. Wiped out the brand new trans. Made 358rwhp that trip. Added UDP, 3.5" chromolly driveline, 3" mid pipe exhaust and made 350rwhp fully tuned. Seems low but I can't find anything wrong.
