I wouldnt blame gears. Steep gears have never effected anything to me on the highway. You just have to shift fast. That Z28 is just straight up the faster car regardless of rear gear

I'm not blaming gears, the Camaro seems to be a stronger car, but from owning one, I can tell you stock gearing would have benefited the Z06 here. Third stock, runs out at 100, 4th ~145. So, with 4.11's it probably take changes those shift points to ~85 and ~130, so he's in the extremely TALL 5th above that, which this race seemed to get to.
If you ever run a C6Z I can tell you on a highway, gearing is a major advantage. 3rd runs to over 120, 4th over 160.
