HHR SS vs Lt1 Camaro, Hot Rod, MS3, etc etc...track times (no vids just good stories)
So I hit Union Grove WI by myself
All my boyz were busy or holding off till we got a posse but I needs to get the HHR there so I can bring the Camaro again soon.
Disclaimer: there were some really awesome guys there and I enjoyed talking to many of them; however, this is definitely backward wisconsinville with gutted civics and pickemuptrucks and drunk 18 year olds.
As you can see, prep was average. I got the Cobalt to run 2.2's at Byron but I couldn't even get a heavier car with the same tires to get a solid 2.3 sixty footer. To make matters worse, it was a slow day. Less then 50 cars showed up BUT they decided they would halt runs for several 30 minute intervals while they fixed the left lane trap sensor. That's right, I paid $45 to run while they shut us down to repair the sensor becasue there was a big event the next day.
Me vs Lt1.
It was in good shape and had some drag radials, otherwise stock.
Saw his runs and asked him to line up with me. He was like meh but ok.
Him....................Me
60.......2.164........2.438
330......6.064.......6.430
1/8......9.271.......9.496
MPH.....78.05.......83.01
1000....12.018......12.129
1/4......14.374......14.331
MPH.....99.5.........104.23
He got out on me of course, but then look at the mph at the 1/8
I wish I had a train horn cause the freight train was on!
So I catch up to him as he was airing up his tires to leave and he says I got you by a bit.
I said no, you lost. Look at the slip. I got the win
His buddy was like
Most of me evening was spent listening to some young guy in a new MS3 talk about how he use to race top fuel (I R Serious) and he hit the wall and quit the business. I swear he was like 24yo.
Anyway, he had a new MS3 STOCK and wanted some of me. He was my 1st three races. So I obliged. Well Mr top fuel looked like a blind 12yo at the tree. he fkn overshot the yellows, backed up to far, lit both lights up before I tripped one yellow (god I fkn hate that)....yeah. This is gona be good after this run.
I confront him and he says he is out of the grove, still shell shocked, bla bla bla. Hos times got progressively worse through the nigh. As in 14.9 down to high 15's..lol He never once improved even though the night got cooler as time progressed (enter his buzzed buddy.........see below)
Him....................Me
60.......2.390........2.462
330......6.363.......6.474
1/8......9.725.......9.536
MPH.....72.37.......83.05
1000....12.732......12.159
1/4......15.327......14.354
MPH.....error.........104.60
So enter his buddy.....he starts bragging to let him drive the MS3 and he will take me AND run a 13.9
Me and a few guys are lol and saying um, no. He wants to bet. Mind you he is a lil buzzed and im 38, I don't have time to get into this **** so as a few guys no me here. I may not call you out but I do enjoy helping you dig a hole while we laugh at you under our breath. He goes on about how he ran his buds stock SI to a 14.1 another buds stock EVO to a 12.1. Yes, a 12.1. I almost spit my protein drink up at that one. I tell ya, the track is pure comedy sometimes.
Anyway. I went on the run the exact same freakin time literally 7 times in a row with my trap hitting 105 a bunch of times, so I will save u the bother of reading more timeslips that are .000001 different.
The fun was the stock grand National I beat (he ran a high 14)
A rat rod with the engine exposed. Cool guy with a zz top beard and all. That was a cool race cause he got out to a 1.9 sixty but only trapped 97. So I rolled past him. He came and talked to me about the HHR and said whats it back half...lol
There was a new 5.0 with intake, tune and slicks running 12.4 @ 112.
A new SHO with a Livernoise tune running 13.2 @ 109.
A V6 bolton stand runnin low high 13's. (I got a roll with him on the way home and pulled him by a car)
Good times.
Here are some recent pics of the HHR. I changed the headlights to black painted ones, removed the front plate and just got a fresh buff.
Thanks for reading.
And here is what my mpg was for the ride home.

The little black box did pretty good with everything considered. Not shaby for a daily driver kid hauler. Now can we get some ethanol in that thing and see if we can get it into the 110-113mph range?

I want one of those for a family hauler. Wouldn't mind trading my truck in eventually once I no longer need to trailer **** all over the place. Good runs, I remember surprising some characters at my local 1/8th track with my MR2 turbo
