does this sound about right??
The cars:
Mine-- 95 Z28 m6, 11:1 383, stock untouched heads with pro mag 1.6 rockers, 918 valve springs, and CC306, pacesetter longtubes/y pipe/no cat back, stock rear end with 3.42s, everything else is stock(injectors,TB,ect.), running an open loop tune.
My buddies car: 97 Z28 M6, 178,xxx miles, bone stock with 4.11s in the rear.
ok so my buddy and I decided to go at it last night and I was very surprised to say the least....
Starting from a roll, we stay together for the most part and I BARELY pull ahead by a couple of feet. I thought for sure i would've taken him by at least a car length but just didn't happen lol.
Starting from a dig, we both spin like hell but I pull ahead a little more this time.
do 4.11s really make that much of a difference or you think my car just runs like poo? ( I do get 11.4ish AFR at WOT and trying to get that figured out on my diy tune lol)
I'm in the process of getting a mount for my phone or rigging up my camcorder somehow to get some footage....next in line is a fox body H/C/I 4.10s, and some twin turbo BMW that wants in on the fun!

if anything I was gaining on shifts so I guess my car is poo. lol
quick question tho, Can a Tune be that far off? I'm not a pro and I have just learned from reading on this site. I'm running 35* timing from 4000rpm and up and like I said before, AFR of 11.4...trying to lean that out at the moment. OR is it the fact that my heads are stock?

Allow me to make a suggestion…
First, the 4.10s are not to be believed… you'll love 'em.

Stock heads on a 383, with a 306 cam and stock gears is a terrible combination. Only way it could be worse is if it was an auto with stock stall too. You basically killed all your low and mid range with the top end cam CC306, but since the heads are too small for a 383 your topend is choked too. That combo is slower then a bolt-on car.
You need good heads, a tune, and some 4.10s. Stroking a car is USELESS if you don't change the heads. The stock LT1 heads can't even support a 350ci with stock cam @ 6,000 RPM, your cc306 cammed 383 can't breathe.
Heads and cam dictate how much power you will make, cubes shift where that power occurs. There is very little to be gained when stroking a motor when everything else stays the same.

Hate to say it man but the fox and beamer may eat you for breakfast.
If you are auto stall it and put gears, regardless your gonna need tires to help hook. second those heads are way off for the engine you have. Get aluminum heads or have the heads worked for bigger valves and such. Third the stock fuel system has got to go. you cant feed a beast with jewish qualitys.
4.10s will only help if your suspention and tires will hold to make it hook. Otherwise its pissing in the wind man.
But good luck on getting your problems worked out cause I think she has plenty potential.
