Default mmr 5.0 150 shot vs cam 5th gen

i know this is at the track but figured i would post it anyway. we raced motor to motor not long ago. but he had made a pass when i got to the track so we got paired up. first pass on my car with dr at the track so kinda took it easy.

he had traction issues all day. but did end up with a 11.1 . his 60 only come down to a 1.80 i think . i got to make 1 good pass , made 1 more and missed 2nd. i had a low 1.71 on that run. my car has alot left in it on motor. im on stock clutch . cant really slip it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbFyK...JOW8ISYyGPdxXQ

his is basically a full bolton with 150 shot.
im cam . with normal boltons and 300+ lbs of weight reduction.

Sooo almost a 126mph cam only and bolt on's?! Damn impressive!!! Gotta get that 60ft down, EASY 10 sec car.

Id say the 5.0 was pretty weak for the mods. Def should be in the 120's as well...

Got any pics of your interior? Just wanna see if your missing any key stuff. 300lbs seems like a lot.

no thats the 5.0, im 118. he got me on this run. my car usally traps 119.5 to 120.5 on motor. but this was first run out didnt push to hard.

i usally trap that. i figure with the extra weight out my car should trap 121 now on a good run. maybe a lil more on a good air day. but if can get a 11.0 to 11.2 run on motor ill be happy. would like to get a 10.3 to 10.5 on 150 shot. but gonna have to put a clutch in first to do that. it eats it up right now on the track

bumper supports
back seat top and bottom
headers only
17 lb braillie battery
spare tire hole cut out.
sway bar front and end links
fuse box brackets and stuch
28 lb driver and passager seat
the normal stuff aswell

Car runs good but youre doing all the wrong weight reduction. Should not be ripping the interior out and cutting things out. Buy some parts and remove weight that way. ALuminium/carbon fiber drive shift, lightened gears, lighter clutch assembly, race wheels, etc etc.

Rotational/unsparing weight is key. Items people also don't look at are tire weights, go compare the weight of Hoosier QTP vs et streets. You'll be surprised...

how is that doing it all wrong? not to many ways to lighten these cars up . without just gutting one. mine only thing u can tell is the seats have been changed rest looks factory.

all that stuff u mentioned im gonna do but takes a good chuck of money.

clutch 1200+ ,drive shaft 800+ Rims 2000 + tires. my mods were way cheaper and got alot more weight out. i dont know if im gonna put much money in the car may get a vette begining of the year
but with those mods i should run 10's pretty regularly i think. car has alot left in it right now. just didnt get a good pass in that day.

got a friend that has welds 17" he goes everytime i go to the track . once i get the car dailed in on what i got ill use his for now. but i dont have the coin to spend on modding this thing for a few how many times i go to the track . i go 1-2 times a year. i do but i got 2 very young kids atm and getting rdy to build or buy a house. if it was up to me **** a house i own my lil one right now and dont want to go in the hole no deeper then im in atm lol but u know how wifes and kiddo's are . do alot of street racing and arm drop non prepped stuff . u get my point. but saving money right now for a vette or my wife wants one of those SS cars coming out.

but im tryin to get the guy in mmr to see whats up with his i think it should be runing alot better then it is. he runs a email tune and i think its hurting him.

I noticed the weight difference. I didn't buy the qtp because the would suck in the rain.......but I almost bought a tire groover to fix that for them. Instead I bought M&H. They do fine in the rain.

ya wheels are big jump in weight. the friend i have thats got the welds 17's its crazy when i help change them the wieght diff . he runs a slick tho. but damn its like 2 for 1 lol.

but to make the fast it takes some dedication thats forsure. but the weight ive took out of it has maded a big improvement . i have the worst butt dyno around i cant tell how much a car has gained by just kicking it. but i could tell it felt a whole lot better with the weight out. i think with all the mods evan listed and my how i take weight out for the track my car should go 3500's . not a scale worth a **** around my parts. a few scape metal places but i bet they weight lite . one of my dads friends owns a wrecker service and he bought a set of scales that go under each tire. dont know if he got them in yet but thtas what ive been waiting on.

16 with the modified lca package otherwise 17s. I'll be on 15s next week, but that was a $5k investment. Most are just doing 17s and doing fine.

To go to rear 15s on a fifth gen is over 4k to modify brakes and suspension, wheels/tires and over 5k if you add skinnies
