Hung in there pretty good. I start off with a decent set of headers and throw some 3.90s in the mix. I think that alone will be enough to take him. Wouldnt hurt to run a 3600-4000 converter either. Dont fear the converter! But im sure im not telling you anything you dont already know.

Really recommend spending the money on a Circle D. Had one in my GTO before i sold it. Fantastic company and customer service. They dont sell converter based off "flash" speed. You actually tell them everything thats done to the car etc and where it makes power, how long you want the shift extension etc. Mine was roughly 4000-4200 based off my own data. But it really made everything work well. And it locked up hard. 5 Disk lock up clutch

cant get any of that without money... none of that is cheap.
Also, a fast intake shouldnt be a priority in his setup. The ls6 intake heavily out flows the stock ls1 head. Youre only as strong as your weakest link. Start with a good set of headers and x with duals. Id save the fast intake for when he does a good set of heads. LS6 intake is plenty of intake for that motor. The only part that might hurt him with that cam is having to rev it, which at that point, the air tube/tb/tb inlet will become the restriction. The plenum and runners wont restrict that cylinder head at all.

it's the most expensive with the least gains, but there will still be gains. it's worth hp on a stock ls1 over an ls6 intake and the stock cams peak--- around 5500 rpm. porting also offers some gains. with that huge cam, big headers, true duals and a ported fast 92 will offer a nice hp bump over 5500 rpm.

I have kooks but probably wouldn't spend $1000 on headers again.
