E60 M5 (V10) vs C6Z06 Carbon I'll try to make this one short and sweet. Unfortunately, it was spur of the moment so no video.
Well I've had my Z06 carbon for about 2 months now and there's been absolutely no action since the day I bought it. I was on the highway, coming back from picking up dinner when I found myself behind a black M5 in the fast lane. He was kind of being held up by some slow poking cars in front, so I just went ahead and changed a few open lanes to get in front of the whole crowd, finding myself in a wide open space.
Eventually, he gets around everyone as well and tries to catch up to me. I was going about 75 mph and I saw him start speeding up to try and catch up to me. I speed up little by little to see if he's trying to match my speed or he's just getting back to his cruising speed. I was wrong. He slowly starts speeding up and then that's when I notice it - the gleam in his eye... he's going for a ricer flyby to assert his European dominance.
I can see his front end shift in my side view mirror (going about 90 mph at this time) as he downshifts and floors it - the chase is on! I shift down to 3rd while he's already in gear and approaching. I floor it for a good bit before grabbing fourth a little early, and watch him struggle to keep up as we run out to about 125mph. At this point he's miles behind and my exit's up so I just head off.
There's just something sweet about shutting down a flyby.

Musta been a new M5 to think he had a chance against you. Nice kill.
PS: if that scenario comes up again: instead of speed creeping leading up to the race, give him two brake light blips and down shift. 75% of the guys will line up with you then. I personally refuse to start a race after about 70mph and will do everything I can to get a lower speed start. If he does a flyby, wait until you know he can see your headlights and give him a couple quick high beam flashes to let him know you are game so he will let you line up at a normal speed. < that has a 50% chance of working but it's better then chase racing.

You stated your opinion, we got it,...it was an irrelevant comment. That's me stating mine....and since I am on a roll here,...wouldn't your same comment about the LS7, and what it can do(WE ALL KNOW ALREADY),.....don't you think that same comment would apply to your original comment about the M5? We know dude,...we know. It's a 500PLUS horsepower V10.
Don't get mad at me for pointing out the obvious..... far from mad but I guess that "get the **** out" smilie maybe was a tad on the personal side. Don't worry dude, you can stay.
