vs. 392 Challenger; Mods: "You'll find out"
Pretty funny encounter I had last week. I was pulling up to the far right lane of a 3 lane light and didn't really notice who was in the left lane as a big Super Duty truck was in the middle lane. When the light turned green, I took off at a normal pace, taking off quicker than the super duty next to me. All of a sudden, I hear the person in the far left lane get on it hard and I stayed on the throttle at a light pace. Looked over and it was 2 young looking kids starring at me with a cocky grin in what sounded to be a non-stock Silver 392 Challenger manual trans car as they ripped by me. I let them pass me and caught them at the next light. I had my convertible top down and the passenger rolled down his window when I got to the light. I told him to follow me to the abandoned highway extension road to get a run in and they were game. I asked the driver "what do you have done to that thing, and the answer I got was something I never heard someone tell me on a random encounter: "you'll find out" as they both grinned and looked like they were getting ready to jerk each other off.
Anyway, led them on to the abandoned highway extension in Mexico that eventually leads to a single lane poorly paved road after a few miles. Got them into a 50 mph roll and started in 2nd gear. I honked it off, and we both had a clean start, neither jumping on the other. I immediately took a 1/2 car lead off the hit, and never looked back from there. Shifting to 3rd at 74, I already was up over a car. Then went into 3rd gear, and I continued to pull away. By the end of 3rd at 110, I was already 4-5 cars up and pulling. I was going to stop there, but he was still on it trying to catch me, so I shifted hard into 4th and let her rip some more. By 140 mph, he was a good 8+ cars back. I immediately got on the brakes as we were reaching the end of the highway extension. He caught me, and I gave them a thumbs up over my windows and the driver returned the thumbs up (thought they were good sports after all despite being dusted with that "you'll find out" comment. However, once we got to the end of the extension to the unpaved gravel road, he proceeded to due something pretty dumb and rip it on the gravel causing rocks/debris to come up and likely chip his paint. Anyway, it was a fun experience and had to post, esp. after those comments
BTW, this was with my Full Bolt on LS2 C6 Z51 6-speed Vert' with the top down. 392 Challenger that was loud with "unknown" mods had one extra 140 lb soaking wet passenger. Thanks for reading.

Good kill, random encounters like that are always fun.
I had something similar happen when I pulled up at a light with a 392 Challenger a while back. Dude said "Wanna see what that things got?", I proceeded to put a few cars on him and after he said "Guess I didn't have enough" lol.

Its because he still had all his headlights in.
Everyone knows if you remove the driver's side headlight and put an intake there, you automatically become much faster.

Encounters like this is what most car guys will live for lol. I think it's a disgrace when a young kid gets a fast car handed to them by daddy for their first car and they think that car is the fastest thing on the planet because they know no better (mainly because they don't do their research like most of us car guys). Then they find someone like you thinking they even had a chance... Smh.
Good kill OP. Let these no-knowledge-of-cars punks learn the hard way lmao.

Yeah they are. Me and my friends surmised your setup at our local track would be a 12.3-12.6 @ 110-114mph setup (Pacific Raceways is a slow track). Same track were 392 SRT8's run 12.5-12.8 @113-115mph... Same track were no one has seen a stock C6Z ever break into the 11's though we heard it has happened once or twice in the last 8 years.

I have a hard time believing a 392 is going to give a C6Z a run for it's money. From all I've read they trap 114 at best and the C6Z is a 120 car at worst. Are you sure you're not thinking about the C5Z? I'd like to run one, but I rarely see them. Sounds like bad driving C6Z owners frequent your local strip.

My guess is that the performance is worse than advertised from doge and the owners are skerred to post up results. Kinda like when the ZL1 first came out. lol
