Raced an 03 E55 AMG...Finally!
Living in New Mexico, I don't come across very many fast or expensive cars so I was pretty stoked to finally get to run a supercharged E55 AMG. Here it is, it's a bit long.
I was driving to my house w/ my girlfriend late last Wednesday and saw some HIDs coming up fast in my rear-view mirror. I could tell it was a German car, I just wasn't sure what it was until it flew past in the left lane. I wasn't about to let this opportunity get passed up. I got on it and caught up to the E55 as we turned on to a long straight road by my house. After negotiating a few cars we had a nice long open stretch. The first race we went from about 45mph and he pulled on me immediately putting about 2 cars on me.
After talking to the guy (cool guy, must've been in his 20s) we decided on a 10mph roll off of three honks. We both got on it on the third honk and I pulled him through first gear. I could tell he was spinning a lot at the beginning (wish my car could do that) which is why he didn't pull on me right away. As soon as I picked up second, he flew past me and put about 3 or 4 cars on me to about 100mph.
Fun race and a really cool guy and an awesome car. Easily faster than a Z06 from a roll which didn't surprise me too much. Sorry again for the length.

So an E55 is EASILY faster than a Z06...The E55 put 3 cars on you from 10~100...So you are saying that your car and a Z06 are going to be pretty close from 10~100???
With your only real power mod being LT's & CAI??? With those mods, you would still be lagging at least 6 mph behind a stock Z06...

No need to nit-pick this one. The science of street racing is too imperfect. Is the E55 faster than a Z06? Well... it's pretty dern close actually...
Did this guy lose to the E55? Yes, he did. As well he should have.
Good runs.

About a year ago when I had a hotcam with stock manifolds, I ran a 12.80 @114 againt a stock E55 that ran 12.79 @ 111, this was at Silver Dollar in Reynolds Ga. last September, He was an auto with a 1.80 60 ft and me a M6 with a crappy 2.0. 60ft. He told me he paid well over 80 large....

Yes, those E55's are fast !! I couldn't believe it until I got dusted by one on the highway and at a stoplight. I think they weigh well over 4k lbs, so I figured any hp advantage he had on me would be negated by their additional weight. Boy was I wrong.
They can run 117mph in the 1/4.

Just be careful you don't run into one of these things....
AMG SL65 $179k TT 6.0L V12: 604HP @ 5500rpm, 738ft.lbs.tq 2,000-4,000rpm
Local guy named Ben Treynor has one and recently went 11.7@126mph bone stock in it!!! He used to have an SL600 TT that went 11.6@122mph or so and a 1000+HP Viper.

He use to post here every now and then. Just a huge speed junky. And pockets to fuel the sickness.

My site's down because I got 70G of downloads in the first 17 days of the month. The SL65 videos seem to have been popular.
I still have the S600, BTW. Bests of 11.589 & 121.3 mph, but not on the same run.
The SL65 ran 11.72 and 125.6 (also on different runs) bone stock. I was going to be up at Sacto this evening running it on drag radials, but it's raining .
