Default GTO feels good at 150...

Long story short.....'02 eclipse GT is swerving through traffic in typical ricer fashion, wont slow down so we can race. It's pissing me off so i follow for about 5 miles until the highway opens up. He's about 3 1/2 cars ahead of me and hits it at about 80 (******' ricer, won't let me get a real race), i stick it in 4th and wind it out, pass the eclipse at about 110, stay in it until 150 when i had about 7-8 more cars on the rice ***. Wouldn't even come even with my door afterwards. Took the next exit, filled the GTO up (gas light was on the whole time i was following him), and went home.

Car felt unusually stable at 150.

Nice to know they can run up top nicely. It sure wasn't like that in the old days.

lswonder-why would you sell a ta for a gto? that gto is a clone of a over seas car, look in to it more. or,watch car and driver. they kind of slam the gto on the show.

Thats awsome the 04 gto has good top end with all that weight. I think there nice cars. I was reading a old HPP magazine and it said the holden was cloned from the gto back in 1972 or 1973,the front and rear was changed.Ill have to dig it out to make sure.

At that speed, you should have put WAY more than 7-8 car lengths on an Eclipse GT: more like 10 bus lengths or more.

Yeah, past 150 my T/A feels extremely stable. So your car having a longer wheelbase and being a bit heavier should feel even more secure. Nice!

Woah... that's kind of a ways out of town... aren't there a lot of cops around there too?

And what's it take for you to go 70-140 these days, Unit? All of 5 seconds?

Yeah...there are. I used to live out that way so I know the safe spots.

Something like that. It definitely takes longer to slow down that to get there.

I agree, my car is very stable at high speeds. Suprised me a little at first. Im used to driving trucks and they get squirly up high, but the goat is smooth as silk.

If you figure that i did start 3-4 cars behind him then i think i did about right.

I was just guessing car length too. Once i saw how fast i was going i glanced in the mirror and slowed way down.

I got mine at the end of December for 24k. Ive always liked them, was waiting for an 05. After I saw the 05s, I decided the LS2 wasnt worth 9-10k, as I dont like the new scoops or rears. Im pretty sure if you found an 04, theyd be willing to deal w/ you.
