How the race will turn-out has a LOT to do with driver skill, or lack thereof.

He's heavier, but "should" have the launch advantage - especially if you are a so-so driver.

He also may-or-may-not have the same rwhp as your car - the auto GTO's seem to vary quite a bit on the dyno.

Race him & find out....

I'm not to good at launching because I don't wanna push it with our weak rears. I know that I can shift good from a roll though. I raced my friends 01 WS6 with just a intake and I killed him.

Stock rears? I wouldnt be worried about your stock SS w/out some serious slicks + gears + AT LEAST 350+rwhp launching at like 5 grand =p. I would be more worried about traction if I were you. If you can spin it through 1st only or maybe halfway through 1st and slide into 2nd... you'll walk on him. You should be in the low 13's at least if not faster... he's high 13.7's or so? with a good 60 ft.

I did race a 05 GTO. I have a 00 WS6. Very close race. The launch is critical. After the launch the rest is even. You can take him. I raced an m6 gto

I have an 04 stock a4 gto and i raced an 04 mustang cobra with just a filter from a dig and i took him at the beginning then he started creeping up and we shut down with him about a car lenght on me so you will be fine my car if i get a good launch it pulls hard second gear pulls but feels like it losses some power there but when third gear kicks in it starts to pull even harder...it should be a good race.

you raced an 04 cobra and kept up with him in your a4 ls1 goat? damn... your car is a factory freak i think . My cammed A4 SS hung with em from a dig and started pulling a bit on the top end... what did you guys race up to? Also remember that guy who stated he raced an 05... ls2 versus ls1 stock, same car, the 05 goats will take the 04's

well it was a closed event race and on 3 we went i had the rpm's at 1grand with holding the brake at 3 i punched it i had no traction neither did he but i hooked first and then he did about 2 seconds after he hooked he started pulling on me and we shut down at around 80-100 somewhere around there were he was a car lenght in front of me.

Ah that makes sense. I guess on the street the cobras would run mid-high 13's without traction, but at some ridiculous mph. heh. Nice death Hopefully the SS will be able to take him on the street tho

For all the computer geeks... 99 SS != 04 GTO I have never been beat by a stock SS. But then again, my gto is a manual. Good luck. Should be close. Practice practice

04 goats weigh like 3840 lbs's dont they? It'll come down to driver i guess...? If your a halfway decent driver I think it's 10rw per 100 lbs? or so?
