Default Lost my 1st race on the street since the 100 shot.

Luckily it was against a bike so I don't feel so bad.

I came through town and a bike pulled out from a gas station and got right on my bumper. I WAS going to the grocery store but decided to head towards the highway since this guy obviously wanted to play.

So I was hoping it was a 600cc bike as I pulled onto the highway and sprayed in 2nd gear as he pulled out to pass. I held him off fairly well, until around 90-100 and then he walked by and got about 3 car lengths on my by around 130 or so.

He slowed down and got along side me and I saw then it was a YZF1000, the pre-R1 1000cc yamaha, but basically just as fast. We punched it again from around a 70mph roll and he slowly pulled away again .

I knew at that point it was pretty hopeless for me. I may have faired a little better if my bottle pressure was up a little higher (it was just under 900psi), but either way I think I was out of luck. Usually 1100psi seems to work best.

I have stayed even with 600's before on spray (from a roll), apparently I should steer clear of the bigger bikes.

Thats pretty damn fast on 4 wheels, much less 2. I can't imagine running 140+ on 2 wheels, lol.

The new R1 is actually probably 30 to 40 more crank horsepower than that old bide, but any 1000cc bike is going to be a challenge for a car.

Never had any great runs, but mid 12's at 117 not spraying off the line and with a loose spark plug I didn't realize was loose.

The YZF1000 is the carb version of the R1, the changed the fork and they changed the way the sit a bit, also some of the look to the bike. and it has been my harsh reality to find that when it comes to factory bike "carb vs Fuel inj" the carb will get OWNed every time. never the less thats a fast bike, but i still dont think he should have put that much space on you. if i was a betting man i would put some money on that bike not being stock

sorry to hear about the death man, keep on going.

I talked to him later on at a gas station for a minute, didn't ask if he had any mods but it had a micron pipe, no idea if anything else. He said he went to the track when he was fairly inexperienced and ran 11.0@129. So I'm not overly suprised he pulled on me.

Tim

Edit: not to mention the car does pull noticably stronger when the bottle has another 200psi.
