Default SS vs C5

I have a 2000 SS and my friend has a 2000 C5 convertible. I was wondering how well a SS would fare against a stock C5 vert. I am sure i will loose (C5 has a little more hp and weighs less), but just thought i would see if anyone has experience.

LS1 HP is the same. If both those cars are stock, and they where both dynoed it should be in the same neiborhood.

I raced a 04 C5 with my mods in my sig an only lost by half a car from 55-105. From a dig it should be around the same if you can drive well and depending on his gears. Don't race past 110 or so though cuz he will pull you up top.

That's why I left it there, just felt like pointing out that a Camaro/TA has the "same" HP as a C5. It is a vert Vette, so it'll be a little heavier than a coupe.

I took down a 02 C-5 vert which was a A4 in my M-6 01 SS. I think the added weight of the vert helped out.

HP is the same... there is a difference in weight, but you can overcome that if he sucks at driving and you do well, however he has the advantage.

The differential makes a huge difference for that vette.

I easily beat an 04 C5 coupe with 2.73s with my 98 Z28 M6 from a 45 roll.

There is a performance axle option with the A4 that has 3.15 gearing.

I still think you will take him even with 3.15s. That is, if you have a M6 and can drive it. A 3.42 geared 04 C5 vert will probably edge you out.

BTW, only mod I have is a filter.

And how high are you guys racing too? Any time I ever raced an F-bod that was stock (or close to it), when I was stock, I always won by at LEAST 2 cars. Not ragging on F-bod's or anything (used to own one), but I just don't understand?

Dig to 90 I had between a half and a full car on a 00 C5 in my first camaro (6spd). I havnt had the chance to race one with this camaro. The advantage is going to the vette especially if your both automatics, you'll probably have a pretty tough race.

Ok, don't listen to some of these 'tards. Here's what happens when you run into a C5 with a good driver. https://ls1tech.com/forums/street-racing-kill-stories/330288-gto-v-corvette-vidz.html
best of luck to you. maybe he will make a mistake. although since he's auto you may fair better. as you can see this guy was faster but he had an m6.
