lost to a (fast) civic
so i was out with some friends me and 3 others where in my car and my buddy and another friend were in his 03 supercharged vette. we got bored at the spot so we decided to call it a night, and as soon as we start our engines, we get ambushed by like 10 imports!! there were sti's older dsm's, and this black 95-97 civic hatch with the plate URV8SUC or somthing like that... we have heard of the car and know it has 450+ hp at the wheels and only weighs like 1900 pounds....so we get onto the freeway and hte civic(the leader of the bunch) zipps up to us. we are 3 wide and 3 honks we punch it from about 50mph...we go to about 130 with civic in front of the vette by 1 1/2 cars and i am behind the vette by about 1-1 1/2 cars.
all in all fast *** civic...obviouly everything in that car is aftermarket aka block, tranny rearend ect. and i had 4 people in my car and was low on nitrous. even with my heater i could not get more then 700psi on the bottle=( all i am saying is it could have been closer for me if everything was in my favor... but... thats a fast civic lol, and for now he can have that plate...but next year it will be a diff story =)

Nice death. There are some fast cars out there. And using price as a cop out Fart is weak. I know guys with built supercharged 5.0s that spent a crap load of money just to have as much horse power as a bolt on cammed LS1. This is the nature of modified cars. But its the guy that wins that people care about, not who spent less money on thier car and lost...just some thought.

my 5.0 is NA. I spent about the same money to put out close to the same hp with it as it would if i were pushing 6PSI but instead of a supercharger i got a new block/internals/etc. I have no idea what it runs, just that Central Coast Mustang (engine builder) claims it should be high 12's/low 13's and should put 275ish to the ground. PS> I know it is probably in the same ball-park as a stock M6 LS1. But that doesnt change the fact that it was more cost effective and with the new tranny/rear/engine/suspension i spent about as much as it would have cost to GET an LS1 (with miles on it obviously). So while yes, some ppl spend more for less technically, its about LIKE. get what you LIKE, otherwise there would be big block Yugo's everywhere.

2800 pounds and putting down 275 is going to be a 12 second car unless your not getting traction, lol.
edit: Did you change those 2.73s or 3.08s yet? Car will be a low 12 second car with 3.73s, damn, could hit upper 11s. Assuming you have the 5 speed.

I bet that stroker puts down 300+rwhp. I thought about doing a 5.0 project car. Parts damn cheap.

why do you say civics are expensive?
they aren't. It just takes skill to tune them correctly.
How much does a nice LS1 Fbody go for? The "speed" parts plus the car are prob alot less than you paid for your car stock.
Turbo kits for civics are cheap

I think ohiomike makes perfect sense. You can pick up a Civic pretty cheap if you build the motor and turbo it it still might be cheaper than picking up say a 98 TA or Camaro etc..
1900 lbs is pretty light though, it would have to be fully gutted and maybe even lexan windows.

Haha, long story actually. I was gonna trade in the Evo for the Vette so we took a Z06 out for a test drive, well when I came back my wife wanted to drive it. Well on our way out of the dealership she says if your not getting it I am She loved it. It actually worked out better that way cuz she sold her 03 S2000 which we owe'd less on so we got to put a bigger downpayment. And believe it or not, but I actually like driving my Evo as much as driving the Vette. I mean yeah the Vette is faster up top, but 1/4 mile my Evo could probably take it out even on drag radials (my Evo should run high 11's) I know it ran mid 12's before my recent upgrades. So yeah, its cool. I get to drive it whenever I want anyways

I didnt know civic hatches were rear wheels drive. I think you could build a 10 second or better honda for the same or less than buying a stock vette. What year vette is this? A4 or M6? wut kind of charger and how many PSI and what are the other mods?

the vett was built by doug rippy up here in minnesota, it is a 03 vette with a supercharger...i could find out eactly what blower it had and such. it is the A4 with a small stall 2800, and it was tuned down a little so the owner does not have to worry about breaking stuff. and it ran mid 12's liek 12.54 at 122MPH last time we were at the track. He had NO traction as you can tell, he should be mid 11's with the MPH. I know for a fact that the civic put down 435hp at the wheels and he is "suposidly" running more boost now so i figure he is around the 450ish hp
