Default lt1 vs supras(93-97)

well do we even stand a chance? i think that stock it would be a drivers race. But people say that its engine can stand to about 700 hp without forgeing anything. I also that these can get up to about 600 hp with less 2000 dollors?
What are your imput? and any of you guys ever raced one?

I guess a 93 Supra turbo is faster than the other years. It's rated at 13.4, while the others are rated between 13.5-7.

Hole shot you should do ok, but any turbo car can be modded with a $.50 bleeder valve to produce more boost so on the big end, assuming there is a boost controller on the Supra, you will have your *** handed to you. Try to run the 8th, there's a lot of 600 hp Supra's in the 12's (1/4) because of turbo lag.

You need a hell of a build to run topend with them. But you can hang with them through the quarter pretty easily with some mods. They are top end MONSTERS, nothing can compete with them up top when they are modded IMO, not even most exotics.

i alway thought that modded ls1's were god the big end but they are not even close to a modded supra. At muncie I say 2 supras running, they were done up pretty nice and with 2.2 60' 1 of them ran a 10.7 at like 150mph they are crazy on big end

I ran one not to long ago. It was a turbo car, and was far from stock. My car has quite a few mods. I am running low 8s in the 8th mile. I had him for awhile, but topend that turbo got the best of me.

The Supra is a great car and can be made very fast but most arent setup for 1/4 mile racing. As already pointed out, they are highway monsters but getting a turbo Supra for 7-8k is going to be a tough if not an impossible task. Id say stick with the LT1 idea and go from there.

I love supras, but it takes 1000hp to run 10's with one. They're beasts from a roll, but they just can't get it together at the track. My best friend with a 93 Rx-7, big single, should put down around 420 to the wheels, always laughs at them. Supras are to rx-7's like camaros are the mustangs, they hate each other, hehe. But to you question, stock for stock, you would lose if they can drive.

We have a few come out to the tracks once in a while, and if you stand in the stagin lanes right next to the track when one goes by, its so damn LOUD. The spoooling of the turbo till it hits a little ways past teh 1/8 then it just is gone. U might get lukcy and find a supra, but its going to be pritty damn expensive to mod i would think......etc CAI for us 225, CAI for a supra 400?

just like we laugh at import guys for thinking an ss is "supercharged" they laugh at comments like that 1000hp for 10's thing. Not trying to make a personal attack but I had to call that one out. BTW it takes money to get a supra to make 700 hp.

Have you read any of the recent Import magazines. My buddy was showing me a recent article in one of his, where they had a showdown of the 1000hp supras. 3 different companies had theres and showed how different there dyno graphs were and such. And guess what... they ran in the 10's. What my main point was, supras have to have ridiculous amounts of power to run what a far less horsepower car does, because they weight so much and they can't get there power to the ground. You know what the difference between a 700hp and 1000hp supra at the track is? Nothing, they'll both run 10's. From a roll however, thats where the difference is shown. And to a question he asked earlier, the supra j2z does come from the factory with forged internals.

umm it doen't realy all that much money just to make power (dyno queens) but to actully have a strong runer it takes money, It would around 30k (car included) to run 10s i belive (the supra tt being around 20-25k) but we can probly run tens under 20k right?
