Default c5 vs. 99 mustang GT

I have a buddy that wants to run me with his stang. He has a catback ,cold air and a bigger throttle body. My c5 has 3.15 gears, blackwing, superchips, smooth coupler, and soon a ported throttlebody. He says he will eat me for lunch. he also has a 5spd tranny in his stang. Just thought I would get some of your opinions. Thanks

Those GT's aren't THAT fast. Fourteen second cars.

Is this a joke. Maybe the guy is hiding a 100 shot?

no contest...you'll rip his **** up and then some...as long as he's telling you the truth about his car and doesn't have any surprises...99 GT's are not that quick and in my stock A4 Z28 I pull on them pretty damn hard

I know for a fact he has no bottle and it's not a cobra. It's out at the local body shop so I checked it out just to make sure that he wasn't telling me a line of bull. He is telling the truth. He did say that he wants to get some 3.73 gears for it though. He has been running his mouth pretty bad on mustang forums http://www.mustangforums.com/m_691035/tm.htm He is a good kid but he flapps his gums too much.

He is just uninformed...race 2x, lose a little the first then act butthurt and want to put $100 on it. Then take his $$ on the next race and hand it back to him(depending on his attitude). He needs to learn a lesson

You've been flapping your gums an awful lot too...just get out and race.

It's funny though, comparing a 1970's era chasis/car to a C5, when it's all about drag racing it's ok, but real enthusiasts just laugh it all off....my Z would rape my new "beater" in a straight line, but the 924S handles 1000X better....there is no substitute.

I agree... IF there is no nos in the stang, and you can half *** drive, you will waste him

Am i reading this correct?

You saying an old (becuase they haven't been made for years and were launched in the early 80's) Porsche 924, which is actually a VW with an Audi truck engine (they rebadged it as Porshce before it was lunched, as they realised it might sell better), out handles a Ls1 Z28, stock for stock?

I find it hard to beleive, I'll admit I've never driven a 924, but I've read about them, and driven other cars which are reputed to handle better. And in the light that the Z28 actually does handle very well. I just don't believe this claim.

Sure the Porsche weighs less, so it should change direction a little quicker (less mass, hence less inertia), but a 1000x times better, no maybe a little better on the limit perhaps but no more than that.

My buddy has a 99 cobra and I pull him with a 98 model Z-28 camaro, you won't have a problem and that's a guarantee! This cobra I run has a full exhaust, intake, 4.10's, etc.. and I pull his *** hard but on the interstate it's kinda close. Not a worry

every semi-stock mustang GT (except the new 05's and my friends lightly modded 5.0) have been very sluggish. The worst so far was my friends 03 GT A4. It would NOT spin the tires when they were new, after they aged a bit it would a little. Very sad.

I traded it for my corvette. I like ny vette but I still wish I had the Z. My funds wouldn't let me have both.

Dude you will own that mustang. Unless he has some serious engine work done or a power adder he has no chance. My buddy had his 02 mustang gt vert dynoed with flowmasters and its an automatic and he put down I believe 230 rwhp. Assuming with your mods your around 330 rwhp. Lets say his cold air and TB add another 10 rwhp he has maybe 240-250 rwhp. You still probably have another 80 rwhp over him and your lighter, he doesnt stand a chance. The gears will help him from a dig but you will still pull him hard, from a dig or a roll. Please wipe the floor with him, I hate all cocky drivers, regardless of what they drive, that talk **** and know nothing.
