Default Raced a 5.0

I was coming back from the movies with friends + girlfriend and along the highway and this 5.0 comes up on the side. I havent shown my friends what my car can really do but thought better of it at first since undercover cops are the **** out here in Connecticut, since everything here in this state is illegal.. anyways my friend in the backseat points out the 5.0 and challenges me to race him, so I said fine, screw it. I down shifted into 3rd and gave him a nod, I honked 3 times, on the 3rd honk I get a horrible launch (forgot to turn off the friken traction control...) and 5.0 jumps ahead of me.. I turn off the traction control, AC and keep goin, slam 4th and I begin to gain on him, top of 4th into 5th I got em by 3/4-1 1/3 of a car length ahead of him and shut down at 120.. Pretty hot ****, was my first street racing experience and I must say it was awesome, friends in car were hootin and screamin out the window Im not a big fan of street racing but it dosent hurt in small doses...

Nice kill.

Also, I am not sure turning of the AC would help because the AC at WOT is no longing causing drag from the being in use it shuts off. Unless your car is different.

Either way sounds like you had some fun and I am glad you did not get caught by to police.

I think leaving the A/C on is an excuse for most people when they lose. Or an excuse why they got pulled on early and turned it off. Like turning off the A/C frees up 100hp and, like a shot of nitrous, you instantly pulled ahead. Dont take offense. Also, correct me if im wrong but, does traction control really matter in 3rd gear? Good kill. Keep them coming.

Not unless you're on ice or have 600rwhp.

I can tell when my AC is on at part throttle or not, but at WOT it should cut off by itself...

tc in 3rd? ya right. The 5.0 just beat you out of the hole no excuses. Then again you did have it seems like 2-3 people in your car, how many did he have?

when I slammed the gas, instead of a little bit of wheel spin I heard a clunk and no gain in the beginning... I dont know much about 5.0's, but are they supposed to get the jump? the 5.0 was obvisouly modified, looked like it was mid 1990's..

A/C makes a big difference for me at least, no excuses.. promise

2 friends + me = 600 pounds + 125 pounds (g/f) 725 pounds of human.. LOL

when I drive im used to a little bit of wheel spin because I can slam through the gears easier.. when I floor it with t/c on im done for (most of the time)because I mess up the rest of the gears because the RPMS dont go up as fast compared to when I get wheel spin... (its all mentally, because I never look at my oddometer when I race, with the except of a glance in 1st gear)..

If that dosent make any sense to you at all I understand lol because its just the weird way I drive.. its gonna have to change when I get my d/r's though =/

Good kill man.

I got one last Sunday. Was a black, convertable Foxbody with three young guys in it. One was hanging out the side staring me down.

I see his car lift from him braking and reving, and I just gave it half gas at the light and floored it once I got rolling. I put a couple cars on him till 60 then shut down and he flew by. I didn't want to get pulled.

Wish I coulda seen their reaction when my exhaust was right in their faces at WOT. They definitly couldn't hear their car.

Ok, excuses excuses, even with TC on you will chirp the tires IF YOU COULD ANYWAYS (my TA would spin for a foot or two with TC on). The TC SENSES wheelspin and cuts timing, it doesnt do preventative, just corrective...so PFFFFFTTT!!!! and your AC being on wouldnt matter a hill of beans after you floored it. at WOT the compressor shuts off (your power drain is having to turn the compressor).

Yes, the AC still blows cold, the thing isnt going to go hot instantly, and most ppl never notice that it wasnt on as far as cooling goes.

So... I stand corrected...

Thats what I said, the tires "Chirped", clunked or whatever the hell you wanna call it.. what does "if you could anyways" supposed to mean?

And because TC senses wheelspin and cuts timing, that would mean that it kills all power that is brought to the ground, therefore a crappy start off.. was going around 65mph when I downshifted into 3rd, not sure if that made a difference but the +725lb sure sucked LOL

So wait you started in 3rd gear from a dig or you downshifted to 3rd from like a 65 mph roll? Either way you wouldnt lose traction. Plus where did you get those Magnaflow headers, I gotta get me a set of those!

TC cuts timing? When my wheels break loose with asr on the gas pedal gets shoved up against my foot...forceing less throttle. Maybe i'm the only one though
