1996 Cobra vs. me Guys i know you hate posts on bench racing but i havnt found a clear cut post on this yet. I just got my 1999 z28 A4 63,000 miles(2.73 geared) its pretty stock except it has a flowmaster muffler(gonna replace asap) and a gms lid. The guy i work with is a cool guy but a complete *** when it comes to chevy cars. He has a super almighty 1996 cobra which is bone stock expect for a kandn filter. Now i have alot of respect for Ford Cobras and i know his car is quick but he doesnt want to give my car any dos at all. He says it cant even go over 110 
. Im pretty sure were gonna do a little roll racing on I-55 late when we get off of work. Just want to ask what you guys think of the outcome, and at what speeds i will be at a disadvantage.
Ps. He also thinks his car is a high 12 second car stock and mine would be lucky to touch 14s.

check out my sig, how does he have a solid 13 sec car, ive seen lots like mine low mid 14's. When my car was completly stock tho from a 20mph roll i raced a late 90s cobra and walked him. So u should have him. I forgot im also a convertible to, so if ur not u definetly have him.

You should have him by comparing the stats. There is a guy here at my skool that is repairing a wrecked 96 cobra here at my skool. Im going to race him when he gets it done. Me and the other 3 TA's here. lol. He also thinks that he can walk us but he wont. Let me know the outcome!!

I've driven a 1996 cobra before, and was very similar to my 1994 formula (stock for stock).
Which means it's a low 14/ high 13 second car.
A LS1 car should easily beat it. Provided you can drive resonably.
Race and find out. Then put that Mustang guy in his place.

Awesome, i didnt know how bad having the auto and 2.73s would hurt me. Hes a good driver and the cobras are geared well. Cant wait till i get the 3.42 strange gears in and then the 3200 fuddle. I love this car. By the way ill let u guys know how it turns out sunday.

Update:
Well heres what happened. No actual race (yet). We turned onto a 1 lane road and he turned behind me. Im going about 35 w/ the tranny in OD and he Tries to do the pass me thing, so i let him get momentum to about my door and hit it. We stay dead even to about 125 and i shut it down because the road isnt the best. I must not have completely WOT it(god damn floor mat!) because the tranny shifted into OD at about 4200 rpm. Though he never pulled me at all and the tranny shifted like that he says, i had you and just shifted to fifth. Im like dude i let you have momentum to me door and then hit it and you couldnt pull. He didnt seem to know what i meant by have the momentum. Hes like go home Chevy and buy a Ford. O well, i know i can take him now so it aint no biggy ill just have to deal with him bragging till i shut him up.

What I did was bent the end of the floormat that isn't as wide as the rest and tucked it other end up by the seat. Every once in a while I have to pull it back but it never gets in the way anymore.

hit him where it hurts tell him that you will race him for $50 or $100 and if he declines tell him whats the matter i thought u can kill me. he should take the bait. if you atleast stay even with him to 65mph there is no way he will get you (one great thing bout 2.73) i ran a M5 roush (same as cobra just looks different) of the same year model from a dig, and well lets say he was only even with me till my tires caught and lets just say when i shut down at 85mph he was 3+ cars back. i got the same set up as you do A4 2.73, givin i have a few more mods than u do u should have no problem...waste him.
