Doc's 04 GTO Vs. 03/04 Cobra So, there I was, hanging out with DBlue at what we typically call "Ricer Nation" and we spot what appears to be a 03/04 black Cobra Vert. I had never seen it before so I couldn't tell you anything about it. We noticed that he was about to go for a drive so myself and DBlue followed. He was heading out of the city which is good so we just tagged along. While we followed him he was on and off the throttle and you could hear the Eaton singing. As we approach the city limits he takes a right onto the I-75 on-ramp so we followed. As we make our way up the ramp I speed up and get behind him and then I give him some room and go to the left lane. DBlue is behind me just watching (the camera NOT ready). The Cobra starts to pull up to me so I downshift to 3rd and hang at 70 (4800rpms) and he slowly pulls along side me.
As he just gets side by side I'm thing maybe a honk-off or something to start the race. Nope, he just nails it so I follow. He got a 1/2 car. . . I hit 6 grand and jammed 4th and started pull him steady and by 140 I had 1 1/2 cars. I backed out and slowed and he came by me and went towards the exit ramp. DBlue gets on the radio and tells me that he wasn't ready with the camera so I'm thinking that he will get off and turn around and we will run back to the other exit. We proceed but the Cobra just runs up the ramp and cruises at 100 back the other way. We followed him back to the meeting area and myself and DBlue park on each side of him so we can talk a bit (he didn't have a choice).
We get out and start talking to the guy. He mentions that it was fun and his passanger gets out and checks out my car and then walks off to some of the other cars. While I'm trying to extract info on his car 4 guys come back and say to this guy "I heard you got beat!" Doh . . . I believe that his ego just crumbled and he responds with "no, we were just playing." Whatever pal.
DBlue and I just look at each other. Turns out that he had some mods and his rwhp is 438. He really would not cough up specifics but as we all know that is not hard with a Cobra. Our rwhp is almost the same (440ish) but my rwtq is quite a bit (550) more and I 'm lighter by a few pounds (for once I can say that!)
